Question about The Chronicles of Narnia -- By C.S.Lewis

"Books? You want books?! Ha! We've got books on hairy otters, on onions and on mars! All the fungus you could care for, plus, three triple zillion stars. We've got books on flossing teeth, plus three books on tossing sheep. If we spent our lives just counting books, we'd never get to sleep!" -Leopold the Librarian ("The Great Wishy Woz")

Question about The Chronicles of Narnia -- By C.S.Lewis

Post by The Kings Daughter »

I have a question for you all:

I know that the books were written in a separate order than they take place. Could someone please tell me the order in which they happen?

The Magician's Nephew,
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (The Horse and His Boy taking place inside the Pevensie's 50 year reign in Narnia),
Prince Capsian,
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,
The Silver Chair,
and The Last Battle. :D

They read better in the published order, though. Sort of like Star Wars movies. >_>

Hmm, I didn't know any of this. Perhaps I should get around to reading the books. \:D/

I actually like them in chronological order better. It really depends on your own preference.
"And the Lord saw that man had created the Internet, and He was most distressed. For once people started using chatspeak and improper grammar, their level of smartness was decreased by more than 500%. And so the Lord removed all the gifts he had once bestowed on man, and it was very sad." The Book of Marvin, Chapter 351, Verse 442.

Personally I've read them in both orders. For the first time reading them I think reading them in published order is the best. After that it doesn't really matter

So, the published order starts with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, right?

She left many of us behind. She left us heartbroken. And though we cry now there'll come a time when we'll laugh. Because we'll see her again someday. We'll be with her in heaven. And when we go to heaven she'll be there to greet us. She'll be there to say "Welcome home." -From a poem that SnC wrote about her grandmother
