Paul Herlinger (1929-2010)

I feel extremely sad as I type this down. And I am surprised that no one else has heard about it yet, seeing that it happened almost a week ago. I really don't how to say it. In fact, I don't think I really can say it at all right now. It's too much of a shock. I'll just give you the following link: In Memory of Paul Herlinger. It's on "The Olympian"'s home page (it's a well-known newspaper), so, I really have no reason whatsoever to doubt the truth of the article. This is really sad...

That is very sad. Prayers go out to his family and the Odyssey crew, including his wife of 53 years (whom, if I remember, was dealing with some health issues).

So now we are stuck with non-Whit. :boohoo:

I hope he was a believer.

He was AMAZING on AIO and honestly I think he saved the show--they would have burned out pretty soon Whit-less.

RIP, Paul Herlinger. :(

I wonder if they will do anything for him like Walker or Hal.

I was hoping this was going to be misinformation like the thread about Alan Young's death. :( I guess he quit Odyssey because of health issues? Or maybe it's just a coincidence that he died so soon after quitting...

Regardless, He was a great voice actor; when I was young, I couldn't even tell they had changed the actor for Whit. He probably did save the show.

:(

EDIT: I'm stickying this because it's important. :noway:

I don't know what to say. I'm so shocked. I was hoping this was some sick joke, like Alan Young.

Goodbye Paul Herlinger, safe in the arms of our King. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Thank you for all those wonderful memories, Paul, and for sharing your talent with us.

Oh my goodness. I cannot believe that. Now I have this sick feeling in my stomach and my heart is going a mile a minute. I can barely type this down. Has the Whit's End website put anything up yet?

Do you have proof that this story is not true?

No, but remember Allan Young, and I am awaiting verification from FOTF.

Yes, 31899. But if you remember the Alan Young scare started because of a Wikipedia article, I believe; and they are not to be trusted much at the best of times anyway. This article however is an obituary that was published in a newspaper (The Olympian) and then from there the article was uploaded to their website. I don't see how this information would have found its way into a newspaper without some foundation in reality.

My feelings on his death is that it almost feels as if Whit himself has died. For many years Paul has BEEN Whit, and he will forever be remembered for his wonderful role on the show. Each new Mr. Whittaker, to me, feels like a new character almost. I was going to write more, but I don't really feel up to it yet. It will take a while to get over the fact that he's gone. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
