Maximum Ride: A Boys' Series?

"Books? You want books?! Ha! We've got books on hairy otters, on onions and on mars! All the fungus you could care for, plus, three triple zillion stars. Maximum Ride: A Boys' Series?

Post by Fang-wa »

So my cousin refuses to read Maximum Ride. She claims that it is a boys' series. She also likes Twilight, so I told her she'd like Maximum Ride as well, but she doesn't believe me. Thus, I am making a petition as well as a discussion:

"We, the undersigned, hereby certify that the book series Maximum Ride by James Patterson is a series equally suited for the male populous and the female populous alike, which the following reasons state: The main character in the said book series is a female. There are deep and sincere relationships between characters, which is rarely found in a boys series. There is major romance and a general lack of the grotesque descriptions that tend to frequent guy books. Also, many fans of the said series are also fans of the Twilight book series by Stephanie Meyer, which does not draw many guy readers, thus implying that a great many of these readers are, indeed, girls.

I will add on to the petition as we get signatures. So discuss why Maximum Ride is not just a boy book! Also, I am curious as to what y'all have to say. \:D/ Also, post here even if you don't want to sign the petition. So those that do want to sign, please say such so that I'll know. ;)

Okay, Maximum Ride is totally NOT a guys' book! Not only is the main character a girl, the characters have in-depth and sincere relationships with each other (a trait very much lacking in guy books), there is major romance, lots of humor, and it does not consist of gross-out guy gore (nice alliteration, eh?) that is common in many action adventure books. :noway:

If your cousin continues to say such awful things about MR, tell her to say it to all the fangirls on Fanfiction.net and Facebook. :x Many of whom are also Twilighters, I might add.

And I'm totally signing.

Ok, add me, totally!!

Maximum Ride has a ton of romance! Guys usually aren't too into romance, so it's obvious Maximum Ride is not a boys' series.

^^^Not to say that guys won't like it; it just has elements that appeals to both genders.

*snickers* I see Top's point. :evillaugh: (Although teenagers are rarely spayed or neutered, to my knowledge. :-k )
