I was just listening to the epiode Stepping Stones part 1 in the Truth Chronicles.
And they said that the pilgrims sailed to Cape Cod which is north of Hudson Bay.
Hudson Bay is where they originally planned on sailing and they said they had to sail south to get to Hudson Bay from Cape Cod which is incorrect because Cape Cod is south of Hudson Bay!?
Stepping Stones mess up

If I remember correctly, Hudson's Bay to them isn't the one we are thinking of. It was a smaller bay further south, though I could be wrong...
A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man would have to seek Him to find her.

I know that their original charter was for the area around the mouth of the Hudson River, where it empties into New York Harbor, right? Maybe there was some confusion about that.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. ♡
Yeah, I was confused at first with the Hudson's Bay thing, before I thought of the Hudson River and realized that made a lot more sense. Wikipedia offers a link from Hudson Bay to the New York Harbor. I listened to the episode months ago, and I was driving at the time, so I couldn't drop everything and look this stuff up online, and didn't ever do it afterwards, so I can't remember all the details, but the northern Hudson Bay was definitely not the one that they were headed for!
For some reason, I thought they were going to the Virginia area.Laura Ingalls wrote:I know that their original charter was for the area around the mouth of the Hudson River, where it empties into New York Harbor, right? Maybe there was some confusion about that.

Well, a large portion of America was still called "Virginia" at that point - so maybe the Hudson River was still considered in Virginia, maybe? I don't know exactly where and when the boundaries were defined. I do know they had their land patent from the London Virginia Company.
