So, what did you guys think of it (the movie, that is.. ) ? I have yet to see it...(after I go see stinkin' Batman...) But I'd like to know some of the opinions of the members...

I haven't seen it, and I won't; but I thought I'd comment on how they filmed parts of that movie right near where we live. They had extras sign-up at a local high school, and it was big news. People were hoping to get a glimpse of Tom Cruise. There was a story in the paper about how he saw a can for donations for a sick girl at the local Dairy Queen, and he sent his aide with (I think) $5,000 to put in it. They asked the worker if he would keep it safe and make sure the girl got it. (I wish I carried around a spare 5,000. )
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. ♡
Anyone seen the Water-gun prank on Tom Cruise?...

Now knowing Tom Cruise to be a certified wack job, I won't be seeing movies with him in them. Not that I was a fan of his before. And aliens coming to earth and destroying it? *yawns*
That's only been done -what- 300 times?

I go to movies to enjoy them, not worry about how wacked out the actors are... though I have to admit, Cruise has been acting pretty weird lately, and I may think twice about seeing movies with Sean Penn or Jane Fonda...
While the movie is cliche in this day and age, its a fairly good adaption of the novel (though set in modern times), which was the first ever space invasion story... and it's done in as believably a way as possible, not as far out as lots of films of the genre (sadly, a dying out genre, along with giant monster movies ).
I thought it was great (and I am not one that likes many films being made these days), and would recommend for anyone old enough to handle a PG-13 movie. It is pretty intense for youngsters.

I don't plan on seeing it, and my friend doesn't either, but after seeing a preview before Batman, it left her wondering, what happens to the mom? (If anyone who's seen it could answer this question, I would greatly appreciate it.)

She coincidently had gone on a trip to Boston to visit her parents right before all the crazy stuff started happening.
I saw the movie last night. It was very interesting . I liked it, but it wasn't one of the best movies I've ever seen . The main problem I had with the movie was the way it ended. There didn't seem to be much of an ending - it just stopped. Besides that, the movie was very enjoyable. I recommend it to everyone here, but I will warn you that it is a bit violent.

I believe they are talking about the new one...
The old one is excellent, though... definitely ahead of it's time in special effects.

I'm planning on going to see it with the assistant Jr. High pastor at our church today (A friend of mine), but I just looked it up on Screenit.com and it appears to have at least 11 instances of taking the Lord's name in vain. Suffice to say, that displeases me a lot.
