Do you read the Liscence Aggreements?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Do you read the Liscence Aggreements?

Post by Jeffro »

Hi everyone,

I thought this was kind of and interesting thing to discuss. Do you read the Liscence Aggreements before you install any software that you put on your computer. I know for one thing, I usually NEVER read them. Yes, I know I am bad, but life is too short for liscence aggreements.

I usually read at least the first line where it says "Lisence Agreement PLEASE READ". I don't usually read the rest.

If you've read one you've read 'em all. I've perused a few because they were rather interesting. In a nutshell, most of them state: Don't pirate the software, if your computer blows up, don't come crawling to us. I don't read them very often. Just click I agree and next.

I've scanned a few of them, but after the first 2 sentences I gave up.

J-man and trent, they are the things that you have to click the button that says I aggree before installing software on your computer. They are usually text-box like, and have a scrol bar on the side of the box. Mabye I can get a screen shot.

The most reading I do is scanning the popup to find the button to click that says I accept.

Nope. They all say the same thing: You're not allowed to do anything bad with this or copy it. I don't see why they use a million words to say that. :-s

They do that because they have to cover all possible loopholes. There is, however, a dispute over the legality of liscense agreements. It's rather complicated, so I don't want to get into the particulars of it.

Use the chatroom! It's been active for a year, and most of you are missing it.
