Chess!

The world's best game!

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Hee hee. I was in chess club for three years. I was ok, I guess. I went to state a couple times. Yeah. I haven't played it in a while. I usually just play for fun and don't relly try to map things out in my head. Over spring break, we went on a cruise and the ship had a life size chess board. I was really cool. All the pieces were like 3 feet high. my dad and I played a couple rounds. We were going to get pictures but we forgot. :( Chess is fun. I am terrible at notation though, so I probably wouldn't join t ourny if that's what it entailed.

I hate chess!

Not actually, don't come after me! ...though I seem to have lost interest in the game due to a nationally ranked player in the household. As of now, the brother who is five years my junior is ranked in the top 25 for his age in the nation (US). Discouraging. Very. :mope:

I love chess. I wouldn't play in competition though, I just got a kick out of beating everyone in my family whenever they play with me.

I know how to play chess and I've played it many times over the years. I generally like strategy games too (among others).

It may come as a shock then to know that I don't really care for chess that much. :anxious: Maybe it's just who I've played with. Or maybe it's because I feel like if I ever wanted to get anywhere in playing it, I'd need to sit down and learn a ton of strategy... something I don't feel like spending my time on. :noway:

I like checkers even less. :-s

I don't play.....you probably could pick that up from Doc's post. Hey, I play his WWII card game with him!! But I draw the line at chess (He'll slaughter me in a couple of moves), or one of those hexagon and little cardboard pieces games. *shudder*

I'll just cheer on Watson whenever he plays. O:)

That's why timed matches are nice. Around 20 minutes per player makes for a nicely paced game.

10 minutes makes for a more rushed game with more mistakes. - ??

1-5 minutes makes for a crazygonuts test of who can click fastest.

I can't play chess. I've been taught how to play the game four or five times on separate occasions...but have never actually gotten to the point of playing it! I need someone to come and play chess with me!
