The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own Xanga so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

Well, I've had The Secret Garden and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe read to me in elementary school...and I've read the Bible...but that's it.

20... but probably half of those were required in school. A large number of the list I've considered reading and never gotten around to... but I find the selection interesting. It's kinda pop fiction... and a lot of books that were much more popular after they were made into movies.

So, the grand total is around 54 though I'd imagine its realistically a bit lower since some things like Shakespeare and CS Lewis's Narnia were mentioned twice. I'm mostly thankful that I was exposed to the classics at an early age and simultanously regretful that I had to endure some of the other "great works of literature" that were required reading during college.

The only book I'd really "like" to read right now is Brideshead Revisited due to the persuasion of a number of my friends. Otherwise, I was fairly surprised at some of the titles that appeared on that list. Dune, Bridget Jones' Diary? Really?

The thing about this list is that most of those books listed most people would consider boring. I don't think I saw any kind of sci-fi books come to think of it. I'm sure they left bunches of good books out from all types of books, but really they should get a decent verity if their going to do something like this.
