Brain Teaser
Brain Teaser
Alright, here's a brain teaser you may or may not have seen before. I've always liked it.
This is not a trick question. Read the following sentence only once, counting every "F" you see as you go.
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-
IC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.
Don't cheat! How many did you find?
There are actually 6 "F"s in that sentence. Most people leave out the "of"s and only find 3. Interesting, eh?
I love brain teasers, don't you?

Read the following sentence only once, counting every "F" you see as you go. This is not a trick question, just count the "F"s you find on your first read through, and vote on the number you found.

I read carefully, word by word, and it didn't work. I'm surprised one would miss after examining each individual letter. Even the great minds can be duped.Me wrote:My strategy on those is not to actually read it, but examine it carefully, letter by letter, and I still never get them all.

I did the same thing a year ago when I was seeing this for the second time. I am surprised that our great Master Slueth missed it though!Trent DeWhite wrote:I read carefully, word by word, and it didn't work. Here's a somewhat tantalizing puzzle as a continuation of the teasing of your minds:
Three men stand at a fork in the road. One fork leads to Odyssey; the other fork leads to Connelsville. One of these people always answers the truth to any yes/no question which is asked of him. The other always lies when asked any yes/no question. The third person randomly lies and tells the truth. Each man is known to the others, but not to you. What is the least number of yes/no questions you can ask of these men and with complete certainty pick the road to Connelsville? Support your answer.
