Summer Jobs

Where are you working (or applying)?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Summer Jobs

Post by gimp80995 »

I'll work anywhere (within reason)

Here are some of the places I've applied yesterday and today Most were done today since yesterday was a holiday and I couldn't get the applications.:

***12 different Home Heathcare Agencies around town
***6 different nursing homes
***3 Adult day care centers (for developmentally disabled adults)
***4 McDonald's resturants (a few hours a day a few days a week there will pay my rent this summer..........REALLY cheap rent)
****2 Security officer positions
***A "lawn care" company.......eight to ten hours a day of mowing lans......fun times  , but they pay well and guarantee AT LEAST 40 hours a week, meaning I'll go into overtime most weeks.
***Target
***A computer shop (I would LOVE working there, even if he is only hiring part time)
***An ad for a window washer..........I can be like Bernard Walton "I built this company from the ground up. I started with a rag and a bucket and now I've got........a squegee and a bucket"
***Walmart (2 of them)
***Goodwill
***Salvation Army Thrift store
***4 Auto parts stores

And my "to apply" list is about twice as long as that yet.............all I want is 3 little mesely jobs..........I'll settle for two, but would prefer 3.

Anywho, even though it's not planned I know I will be awake at 3 AM, and up at 4 to make plans for tomorrow's job search, so I guess I'll get off of here in a few minutes and consider getting home and near my bed........it'll be interesting to see what places I actually end up working for the summer.

Peace Out

This is our third job thread. ;)

I'm presently working as a swim instructor and referee. Both are well-paying jobs... although my regular shifts at the pool will end near the end of June. I'll probably be able to get a few odd shifts here and there, but it won't be regular or anything.

Ideally, I'd like to make one or two thousand dollars to help pay for this upcoming fall's tuition. University, baby, here I come. \:D/

I am currently self employed, doing video production and computer consulting. It doesn't make enough to put me through college, though, so I will have to get another job. I'm not sure where I want to apply yet. Hopefully someting in computers, or one of the more than 200 independent media companies around town.

A whole bunch of lounges and restaurants to be a server. I have my liquor serving license and I used to make about $100 a night in tips at my old job, and I only have time for a night or weekend job. I just finished my resume last night and plan on spending the next couple of days applying as many places as I can......Yeah, because all I need is less time! ](*,)

I don't plan to get a job, but I might finally be getting my home business going this summer. It's so complicated...all that financial stuff.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.

I mentioned this in the other job threads I think, but this is so cool I must say it once again! \:D/

For the summer I'm replacing a friend who is going away to be a counseler at camp, and teaching at a University and being the problem shooter guy for computers. I even get my own office, which is actually a storage room! \:D/

I work at a software company called Logos Bible Software. Has anyone ever heard of it? I'm convinced it's the best place to work on the planet. Tons of fun things to do not to mention you're working mainly with other Christians.

I am very much lookeing forward to this summer, because I'm not going to work, but I'm still going to be payed! Since I am an elementary school English teacher, obviously I can't work during summer vacation. But, I am still going to get payed! Getting payed to sit at home and do nothing...it doesn't get much better than that! :D \:D/

I am working here this summer. So far it's an awesome job and I'm having a lot of fun there.

The company does all sorts of stuff like Airborn Data Acquisition, Insect Sterilization, and Fire Management. We also work on planes that the government has ordered for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnassaince! \:D/ The vice-president said today that he's even been in a briefing with Donald Rumsfeld!

I do lots of the electrical and electronic work in the airplanes. I'm very pleased with it.

Gah! So you're the one I can blame for that software. :D While it has gotten better in recent years, it is a nightmare to run on any sizeable network. I despise that stuff with a burning passion.

No offence intended, I just had to vent. That software..... :boohoo:

I still have to get motivated and actually go out and look for a job.
