What do you guys think? I liked it bcuz it was cool, kind of slow moving, but i liked it mostly because the music was conducted by John Williams!!!!! :D

I love it. Issac Stern was the violinist. I played the music in Orchestra.

I didn't know about the John Williams thing! Cool! \:D/

I've seen it a couple times - I like the songs, but the end is kind of sad, so I don't like watching the second half as much as the first half.

When I bought it about 8 years ago, my kids were amazed that those were all real songs that I walk around singing, not junk Mama made up!
One of my favs!

I was in it (not the movie, of course) when I was 14. I played Chava, and it was so much fun! So naturally, it's rather a sentimental favorite for me.

I love Fiddler on the Roof. Tradition would have to be my favourite song, but Sunrise/Sunset is beautiful...
The part when the father drives out the daughter is sad. :(

I enjoy this movie greatly. Everyone should see it at least once. :D

If I were a rich man.

...I'd have one set of stairs going up, and one ever longer coming down.

Right? Of course right!

There are a lot of memorable songs in the movie - I love the part where the main character has to convince his wife that it's right to let their daughter marry the poor guy instead of the butcher! \:D/

I was in the play about four years ago. \:D/ It was a lot of fun. I played "Young Man 1". (Basically, I was one of the two teen guys that didn't really have a part, but was thrown into several scenes as an "extra." For example, I was one of the boys that Yente matched up with the two youngest daughters towards the end of the story.) It was a lot of fun, and I still sing the songs. I kinda wish I had tried out for the Fiddler. I was kind of young for the part at the time, but it would have been fun. Besides, our fiddler turned out to be a really bad violinist. :boohoo:

But yeah, Fiddler on the Roof is one of my favorite musicals. :D

I just went to see it on stage tonight, actually! It's an amazing musical!

When I first saw the movie version, my mom made us watch it in 15-minute installments every day (that's her idea of the proper way to watch movies). But after a few days, she had had it with that plan, and we just finished watching it in one sitting. Whew!

I haven't seen it, but I want to - and now that we've checked it out from the library, it looks like I'll get to see it soon.

Some of my friends, though, have been butchering the "Tradition" song to death that I'm getting sick of it already...and I haven't even seen the movie yet! :anxious:

Great movie - very powerful, even though the ending was sad.
