Matt Christopher
It would be bad if I said myself
Btw, a girl I went to school with married Tim LaHaye's grandson. They knew each other as real little kids, and went to Liberty together.

Tolkien and C.S Lewis are the two single most amazing writers I've ever read--Ted Dekker's great, but you can't beat those two. Imagine what a book written by BOTH of them together wouldn've been like.Invisible Ninja wrote:(And C. S. Lewis and Tolkien)
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches
I think that book by both of them would explode because it couldn't hold all the greatness.Ben Linus wrote:Tolkien and C.S Lewis are the two single most amazing writers I've ever read--Ted Dekker's great, but you can't beat those two. Some of these will be pretty repetitive as we have a lot of Tolkein/Lewis fans here.
So, offhand:
J.R.R. Tolkein (The Silmarillion is my favorite).
C.S. Lewis (Specifically, The Screwtape Letters).
Anne and Charlotte Brontë
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
P.G. Wodehouse
Agatha Christie
Robert Ludlum (and, by extension, Eric Van Lustbader)
Evelyn Waugh
E.M. Forester
Alexandre Dumas
Laurie R. King
Jane Austin
Oscar Wilde

In Fantasy: J.R.R. Tolkien, and Christopher Tolkien. Yes, Chris counts.
In General Fiction: No one. They haven't proved they're talent yet. It would be cool if someone could combine the style of Tolkien with the genius of Victor Hugo, add some Sigmund Brouwer, and make the story a modern Le Miserables. Couldn't beat it.
In Historical Fiction: Oops, I don't read that enough.
In non-fiction: God, and Robert Lewis Dabney.
