How Long Is A Newb, A Newb?

What do you think?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

How long is a newb still considered a "newb"?

there is no concrete 'time limit' or statute of limitations or entire list of denoobing qualifications in my book.
one of the non-list, however, is at least knowing and using half-decent grammar and spelling rules, as well as making a notable effort to conform to the (ToO) rules.
"Sonuna" Taranimak ("Sonuna" Sharkquill) has been content lately. She admired own very fine Bed recently. She talked with a parent recently. She talked with a friend recently. She had a good meal recently. She admired a fine tastefully-arranged Desk recently.
She is a citizen of The United States of America. She is a member of The State of Minnesota. She is a member of The Town of Odyssey.
"Sonuna" Taranimak likes Bauxite, Copper, Green jade, the color navy, cloaks, ballistas, cats for their aloofness and hydras for their seven heads. When possible, she prefers to consume Dr Pepper and ramen.
She lives at a relaxed pace. She tends to avoid crowds. She has a fertile imagination. She is completely disorganized. She is very distant and reserved. She tends not to openly express emotions. She needs caffeine to get through the working day.

I voted the conforming option too, but now that I think about it, I think newbie-ness really ends when you form friendships and people know you. Which takes quite a while, i think...

Gotta stick around to really get in though. Posting 243 times and then disappearing means a person is still a newb! :D

Does that mean I'm not a newb? (I haven't been here for 6 months yet but I have over 1000 posts and 2 degrees...I don't think I act too newbish)

Yeah, I was saying...I haven't been here 6 months so I don't fit into that option but...(you know the rest).

What if I always used "d" instead of "b". Like Newd instead of newb and prod instead of prob...what would that make me? PC's twin?

Once they conform and start typing in green, then they shall not be newbs, or noobs.

;)

I consider myself a newb, and I shall always be a newb.
Newbieness is based on attitude, Gabe knew the board better than any of us (probably) but his attitude was arrogant and I would have considered him a newb, even though he was an NPC.
A person may have the best spelling and grammar, but they could post haughtily and pretend to be supieror to everyone else, and I would consider them a newb.

I think the members of this board are kind and considerate. If you don't meet those requirements you are a newb.

i have been around here since "the beginning" (i'd guess you'd say) but no one knows me probably because of the fact for awhile i didnt have time to post or waste time on the computer..now i do so i am beginning to post more than i have...but most people would be like conniefan??? who is that?? never heard of her...and i have been around here for longer than a lot of you!
so its definately not how long your around here that makes you a newbie or not..

I definitely agree with Blitzen. The user ceases to be a n00b when they are not lazy with their posting. In other words, they concentrate on correct spelling and grammar. They should also only post when they have something worthwhile to say. One can have thousands of posts and still remain a n00b. Now, Lord Kappa never has and never shall be a n00b, in my opinion. Ha! :-)

I have always been careful to follow both those rules... Does that mean I was never a n00b? :D

...and in case anyone was wondering, I whole-heartedly agree with Blitzen (and Bob Cratchit too). A high post count may initially look impressive, but means very little if those posts lack substance.
