It's a girl!!!!

Well, the title pretty much says it all--but I just got back from my ultrasound today and even though it is a bit early to absolutely 100% positive, the baby is a girl! Her name will be Azure Breanne Cole. \:D/

Cliff is a little bummed it won't be a boy (he wanted a boy to get all into cars like him) but we're still both really excited. I told him it will help to soften him up before a boy comes.

The bad news is I have a tumor on my right ovary. They found it after my first ultrasound and sent me to see a specialist who said I needed surgery. Today was my preliminary ultrasound to check up on it and my surgery is scheduled for Jan 5th. I'm really nervous because I've never had a surgery before, and there some dangers to the baby.....and the though of being put under freaks me out....so any prayers sent my way would be greatly appreciated!

Wow... good news and bad news... I'm very excited about your little girl on the way! Girls are awesome!! I'm sure boys are too, but I'm inexperienced there so far. But really, all children are a blessing. :D

I will definitely be thinking of you with the surgery. That sounds like a difficult place to be in. You will be in my prayers. Hopefully this is one of those conditions that is improved by the surge of hormones associated with pregnancy.

Aww, congrats, Jessica! That's so awesome! I'll be praying for you... And thinking of you and the babe! \:D/

As long as it's healthy and cute, I'd consider Cliff to be awfully blessed - even if it's not a boy! \:D/

I've been under twice, and both times it was a wonderful nap. I'll be praying that it goes well.

Wow, how exciting! I'm sure that you'll enjoy having a little girl at least as much as a boy - girls are cooler anyway. ;) I'll be praying that your surgery goes well. :)

Being put down is a breeze. I've only done it once but it was pretty cool ;)

I was getting my wisdom teeth out and opted for the complete sleep package. I'd had novocaine for a more minor dental surgery and I didn't want to be awake for something this gruesome (did you know they say you can actually hear the "crack" as they yank the tooth? *shudders*).

Anyway I got in the chair and they were attaching all these round things to me and hooked me up with an IV. I remember thinking as she injected me, "Ok, there it is... in a few minutes I'll be completely out." I knew there was no way to fight it but I wanted to have some fun. I was going to try and hold out as long as I could. If I felt drowsiness I was going to fight it with every muscle in my body (knowing full well that it's nearly impossible to resist).

I remember the dentist asking some general questions about my college and career. I knew he was just stalling. It's a common technique for doctors to ask questions to put the patients mind off the drug. Apparently answering questions helps you fall asleep faster ;). I remember thinking "heh, he's just doing his little routine of asking questions to get me to fall. Well it won't work on me. I'm fighting this."

...and that was the last thing I remember. What seemed like an instant later, I opened my eyes and I was in a new room and felt numbness in my mouth. It was a little weird because my concept of time was off. I didn't know if I had been out 5 min or 3 hours. My mom assured me I was only out 30 min or so.

And that's all there is to it. No pain, no feeling, not even drowsiness. I'd do it again just for fun if it didn't cost so much \:D/

Lol @ Bumble. I'll try that!

Thanks everyone for the support! They actually aren't sure if they are going to put me completely under or use an epidural so I will just be paralyzed from the chest down. They are still trying to decide which way to go so that the baby will have the least side effects from the drug. Either one freaks me out. I mean--being awake while they slice me open and pull out my organs!?!?!?!!? AUGH!!!!!! It's like a freaky horror movie!

As for the wonderful girl news--which yes is our first (which is good since we've only been married like 5 months!), I'm pretty sure Cliff has come around. The other night we were wrapping Christmas presents, and I got up to leave. When I came back, he holding a teddy bear and staring at it all wierd. I asked him if he was ok, and he didn't answer. I got closer and looked at his face and his eyes were all glazed over.
Finally he turns to me, all teary eyed and says "We're going to have a baby girl!". After hugging him, I looked at the teddy bear (which he had bought for the baby) and he had put a bow on it's head, and then a sticker that said "to: My new baby girl, From: Daddy". It was so sweet! Then he made sure that when he put it under the tree, it was showing in front of all the other presents. I'll have to take a picture of it! It's just so funny, cuz Cliff is like 6'4", broad, all tattooed and totally manly, so that moment of weakness was awesome!
