Phobias

Gimp doesn't recall seeing this thread.........yet

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Ecophobia - Fear of home
[How would one treat a homeschooler with this phobia?]
So THAT'S why I'm almost never home
Technophobia - Fear of technology
[You wouldn't be reading this if you had this fear]
*drops laptop and runs out the door screaming*

I actually think my mom has it though
Somniphobia- Fear of sleep
[This is an actual phobia? :shock:]
Not only an actual phobia.........one that I have
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words
["I have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia." Can you say oxymoron?]
THAT's good.

Peace Out

-Gimp
God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

God, Grant us the peace that comes from honest dealings so that no fear of discovery will haunt our sleep May we inflict no pain, bring no shame, and seek no profit by another's loss.

Do you visit amusement parks very often? *sigh* Usually I sit on the bench and hold the cameras. Or hide my face in someone's arm. That works okay when you know the person your sitting next to. \:D/

When I first saw your post, I thought it read "falling." #-o Ah, so you, too, have atelophobia. We should start a club! The Atelophobics.

...and I also have a fear of falling. :anxious:

Somniphobia- Fear of sleep

I only had this once, for about two weeks a year or so ago. It's not so much about fearing sleep, but of fearing the nightmares you know you'll have.

Hydrophobia- Fear of Water

I'm not afraid of taking a bath or brushing my teeth or anything; I just get freaked out by the pressure while I'm trying to walk/swim through deep water.

Ichthyophobia- Fear of fish

Probably my biggest phobia ever. I can hardly stand to look at fish, much less be in the water with them and risk touching them. I'm terrified of them, even though I know 99% of the fish out there won't hurt me a bit.

~~~~~~~~~
Paraskavedekatriaphobia- Fear of Friday the 13th
This would be a bad one to have today!
Phobophobia- Fear of fear
FDR's phobia :-)
Uh... I guess I fear things that sting like bees, wasps, yellow jackets, and bumble bees. :anxious:
I'm not normally scared of heights unless I feel that I'm in an unsafe position (on a slanted roof for instance). When I'm in an unsafe position the fear of falling is greater.
I'm not scared of people, the dark, spiders (unless they're poisonous), or anything. I don't generally suffer from claustrophobia either but there are certain extreme situations that would make me panic.
