Phobias

Gimp doesn't recall seeing this thread.........yet

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

So.........we know we all got 'em...........what scares you?

Me......it's spiders, bees / wasps, and large crowds.

Peace Out

God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

God, Grant us the peace that comes from honest dealings so that no fear of discovery will haunt our sleep May we inflict no pain, bring no shame, and seek no profit by another's loss.

I really dislike being near spiders and weird bugs and snakes, but I don't think that I have a fear that could officially be classified as a phobia. I don't have any phobias - just lots of general wimpiness! ;)

I have acrophobia. :anxious:

Here are some phobias I found interesting:

Androphobia or Arrhenphobia - Fear of men
[We are so very scary, are we not?]

Caligynephobia or Venustraphobia - Fear of beautiful women
[This does not apply to me :noway:]

Ecophobia - Fear of home
[How would one treat a homeschooler with this phobia?]

Homilophobia - Fear of sermons
[So that's why my friends don't want to go to church... :-]

Japanophobia - Fear of Japanese
[We love you Elf! :D]

Technophobia - Fear of technology
[You wouldn't be reading this if you had this fear]

Somniphobia- Fear of sleep
[This is an actual phobia?]

Olfactophobia - Fear of smells
[Solution: wear noseplugs your entire life]

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words
["I have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia." Can you say oxymoron?]

It is, indeed, rather similar. However, acrophobia is fear of heights as opposed to fear of spiders. :)

I'm scared of dark corridors. Dark hallways, dark rooms, shadow-filled old houses that are full of strange noises. I can't stand walking around huge buildings by myself at night. (I guess I shouldn't be afraid, because I'm never all alone. :D )

Trent is an expert....in just about everything I think. :anxious:

i'm afraid of falling. I'm okay with being up high, just as long as there isn't a chance I'll fall.
