Bernard...

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

I think that's a valid point, Bernard's first episode I believe was By Any Other Name and he seemed a bit negative and grumpy, but it seems he has shown some change, but I think his change has been for the better. I think they made Eugene change after becoming a Christian and it seems like he's changed a bit since the novacom saga. He seems to be more Christ-like with his Hand Up.

Two factors going into Bernards character: his age, the writing.
One factor going into Eugene's character : the writing

I don't like the new Eugene... he's a little too human, if you know what I mean!
Um, I guess this is where I'm supposed to say something funny or interesting.

Bernard has changed somewhat but I don't really care one way or the other. I liked the old Bernard and the new Bernard. He's always been among my favorite characters.

Bernard rocks!

I have noticed a tad change, but it's nothing overdramatic. He's still that ole Bernard we all know and love. And he always makes me laugh.

He has changed, and I like it, but I would prefer a grumpier Bernard.
Thanks Darth Birdie for the HSE, and DanP740 for the HUGE donation.

I think he was kinda a mix of the old Bernard and the new Bernard in this week's episode. I liked it!

I agree that Eugene has changed...I think his marriage to Katrina (whose new voice I don't like) has helped make him more, shall we say, "normal".

Well, Bernard wasn't that grumpy in "Suspicious Minds," which was an earlier episode with him. I actually noticed some similarities between "Suspicious Minds" and this week's episode regarding Bernard's role. He was the one listening to everyone's problems—and laughing at them. But yes, I agree that Bernard was a bit grumpier in earlier episodes, but not by much...he's still his same old sarcastic self.

I was thinking the same thing. When Max started talking to him and then Trent talking to him I kept thinking, "This sounds just like Suspicious Minds"...

Yea, for Bernard its difinetely his age. Which is sad, because he has been on the show for long. And I hope that once his character goes away that they just let it be, and not try to replace him or anything. Honestly, it's time to stop replacing.

But Bernard has been one of the finest characters on the program. And wheither he's grumpy or not now, I'm glad that he's just there.

For Eugene, however, I believe it's both the writing AND the acting. Whereas Bernard got more serious, Eugene got a whole lost less serious. He's always "up in the air" these days, and it annoys me. Because though he had the occasional "Eugene acting crazy" back in the day, they were funny because they weren't "that often". Eugene certainly lost his role-model qualities. Barely an episode goes by today where he hasn't done something very rash and silly.

Sure he was silly when introduced, but if someone changes they should NEVER go back to the way they were. (or if they do, at least retain the qualities in personalities that they adapted over the years, and not ignore them completely).

I love Bernard. He's one of my favorite characters.

I think it is important that the characters personalities change somewhat or even a lot over time in the show. People change over time.

Bernard has been on the show for 16 years.

I'm much different as a 37 year old than I was as a 21 year old...
