Best Book made into Movie

Post by One I Froggy »

Hey everyone! I have a project for English class, and I need to read a really good book that has been made into a movie (The movies doesnt have to be good)
So, please give me some suggestions. I need to have the book read within the next week and a half, so please, don't list any that are more then 300 pages or so. Unless I can get it on tape...but anyhoo...any ideas?
~Nikki~

My favorite bible verse:
"If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into heck." Matthew 5:29

I would say Narnia. But, since that hasn't come out now... How about The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

I thought "The Green Mile" was a terrific book, as was the movie.

I really wanted to do Princess Bride, but all of the copies at my library are checked out. I may have a friend who can lend it to me...I love the movie. And there is a group who is doing Stephen King books, so the green mile is out. BUt it was a good suggestion. Thank you all who have posted so far...keep em coming :D

Or you could go the crime novel route and read one of the splendid Sherlock Holmes novels--such as The Hound of the Baskervilles. I believe it has been made into a movie several times.

That is the one I am leaning towards. I have the movie and the book and the book on tape...can you tell I love that book/movie?
Im a little wary of doing such a girly/lovey-dovey/sad book though. I dont want to guys to get bored.

Tuck everlasting is also a good book, but that was required reading a few years ago...and we arent allowed to do it again. Plus, its really short and I dont think my teacher would count it.

I started re-listening to A Walk to remember though, just in case.

Thank you to everyone with suggestions...I still want to hear more, so keep dishing em out!

My sister did something similar except it was the other way around. She was in a cinamatography class and she watched movies based on books.

Much Ado About Nothing
(shakespeare) really good.

Clueless (based on Emma by Jane Austen)

Then there's Emma with Gwenyth Paltrow (that's a really good movie)

An Ideal Husband
and the Importance of being Earnest (both by Oscar Wilde)

LoTR
(of course)

Jane Eyre

Pride and Predudice

Mansfield Park

Harry Potter
(of course)

Tale of Two Cites

Niclolas Nickolby
(Charles Dickens)

Hitchhiker's I wouldn't do because there was stuff taken out and written specifically for the movie

James and the Giant Peach

Princess Bride

My Fair Lady i
s based off of the play Pygmailion

Midsummer's Night Dream

Richard the III
(with Ian McKellen is great)

Sense and Senseability (very good this has Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, and Kate Winslet in it)

Kiss me Kate
(based of of Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeaere)

Taming of the Shrew (with Elizabeth Taylor in it is really good)

Depending on when this project is due War of the Worlds

I know there are some more, but at the moment this should give you enought. 95% of my movie collection are movies based off of books.
