You may have hit the proverbial nail on the proverbial head. This may well be why the thread is titled so. She apparently was, in fact, thoroughly enraged that Brian would even think about asking her, for it was such an absurd question.

In order to save my skin: It was an absurd question because it went without saying what the answer would be. ;-)
