Makeup (and its dramatic effect on girls who wear it)

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Ah, you are a real gentleman, aren't you!

What it all boils down to is that some girls like to wear makeup and others don't care to. Likewise, some guys like it when girls where makeup and others don't care as much. It's all up to each person and it wouldn't be right to say that if you don't where makeup you're ugly or don't care about the way you look.
Well excuse me KBT, I happen to have a girlfriend. ;)

Not to mention Jesus had long hair...

Sorry for insinuating it's gross and trashy to not care at all about your appearance... but... it is. :-s

Ah, okay. Sorry about that. For clarification my use was proper.... by "my women" I meant women who I am or have been romantically involved with... which makes me even happier you weren't on that list. ;)

I guess we have different ideas of playgrounds, Catspaw. And I don't think I've really insulted anyone here.

Haha, just for the record; I was completely kidding with both of those statements.

The last 4-6 posts were the icing on the cake (makeup on the face?) of an awesome thread. ;)

The only thing I'll add to this thread is that I think it's mildly creepy to see 10 and 12 year old girls wearing makeup. Or, alternatively, people wearing the stuff caked on.

Other than that, I have no problem with the stuff apart from the ludicrously expensive prices it sells for.

Jesus was not a Nazarite. :noway: He was a Nazarene - which means he was from the town of Nazareth. (Matthew 2:23)

And on topic, I wear makeup occasionally and very lightly compared to many people. I'm not big into it at all and could take it or leave it. And mascara and eye shadow make my eyes burn, so I avoid them. \:D/

Haha, yeah, I was going to say that, as well. Nice job showing your knowledge of the Bible, xiao. It doesn't say so in the Bible, but I believe that most movies set in that time are based off research about the culture and lifestyle of Biblical times, and long hair for guys seems to have been a societal norm. Is it a societal norm in modern America? No, and I think that guys with very long hair, greasy ponytails, etc. are pretty disgusting, personally (and yes, I think Jess Harnell is great, so don't drag him into this).

Also, back on topic, I think that comparing using makeup to taking showers is silly. Makeup is not necessary for personal hygiene. I like using it, but I know people who don't, and here's the thing that needs to be said in this thread. If you're a girl reading this, then it's your personal choice whether you use it or not, and it's not wrong to do either. If you're a guy reading this, then you should rethink how you perceive girls. If you automatically judge a girl based on her appearance, then you're a very shallow person. One of the most godly, fun, personable girls I know doesn't wear makeup, doesn't have a stylish haircut, and doesn't wear anything resembling fashionable clothes. I'm sure a lot of people just pass her over as not worth their time because her appearance isn't anything "special". But when they do that, they miss an opportunity to know a girl with a remarkable personality. And that's just because she doesn't conform to the current ideal of beauty - anorexic, sexualized, and outwardly flawless. If that's your idea of "womanly" beauty, then I feel sorry for you.

I found all the arguing from yesterday humourous, but will now ignore it. \:D/

Around the house, I almost never wear makeup. I will if I want to look more "presentable." That's more for me than anyone else, really. But I've always been the type to wear fairly neutral makeup. If I am wearing it, people never know. I feel that daytime makeup should enhance your appearance in such a way as that you don't look like you're wearing makeup.

I recently got some of that mineral type foundation from Costco. I do really like it, as it isn't as heavy as liquid stuff. But I need to remember that "light" is not the same as "pale." Very hard to get a light enough color for my pasty skin!

Please do not universalize statements similar to that. I would prefer that you state, "paralyzing most (or some) men in a 100 meter radius." Not every man is "paralyzed," to borrow the colloquialism, by the presence of superficial attraction enhancers.

It can be pretty deceiving (as you can see above lolz) but it usually is a dramatic improvement, I don't really get why some girls don't ever wear makeup (especially the ones who look poop when they don't and they still don't) especially when they go out to formal events and stuff.

Not classy. :noway:

How do y'all feel about it?
What's deceiving is that comparison picture. Why are the clothes different?
Why is the top of the head cut off in the first one? How do we even know it's the same girl?
But even if it is, why do you think it only goes for girls? Do you cover your facial blemishes with make-up and use eyeliner to enhance the beautiful colour of your eyes? Isn't it true that God appreciates beauty and you should make an effort to look your best?

Lol. Not to veer slightly off topic or anything, but I think the issue of main importance is that said male still looks.. well.. manly ;). As long as they still look like a guy, and you don't have to wonder whether they're a Pat or Patty, a little longer-ish hair is fine by me \:D/.

Although I must admit that one length, long, silky hair on a guy is pretty feminine and nasty :noway:. If you're going to have it long, guys- have it only a LITTLE longer, shaggy, and in multiple dif. layers.

EDIT:
Josef1004 wrote:why do you think it only goes for girls? Do you cover your facial blemishes with make-up and use eyeliner to enhance the beautiful colour of your eyes? Isn't it true that God appreciates beauty and you should make an effort to look your best?
I think guys don't worry as much about their appearance because they're men, and like I said, the biggest deal with them is that they still have to look like guys. The Bible says it's an abomination for girls to look like guys/guys to look like girls. So, in our society, makeup is for a.) girls, and b.) freak guys. \:D/

Therefore, only girls should wear makeup.

In any event, makeup is as much a product of the personality of a person as it is a product of their cleanliness levels. Guys don't have the kind of personalities to where they'd spend half an hour primping in the mirror. Some girls have personalities to where they'd like to spend five hours on their looks. It all just depends on your personality; however, I know that any guy I meet who spends time primping (aside from simply throwing on deodorant, brushing his teeth, shaving, and combing his hair) is not as masculine as I would like ;).

Do you attempt to refute my statement? I am not sure if I understand you correctly. Perhaps you mean to belittle me by "laughing" at me. If the only males you have been around for extended periods of time are the type that do gawk and freeze up around a female with a lot of make-up, then I suggest you find different associates. Those people are very superficial and are not people to associate with extensively.
