I'm currently reading The KJV Study Bible (always), The Screwtape Letters (first time reading it - fantastic thus far), One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven (second reading - very good), and E-Z Bookkeeping (a book on finances, in preparation for college?).

Oh, and I just bought "Following Prince Caspian" for $1 at my local going-out-of-business Christian bookstore.

I think that would be Sigmund Brouwer. He's a Canadian - spell his name right. :x

I just finished "Courting Morrow Little" by Laura Frantz and it was incredibly good! I definitely recommend it to fans of historical fiction. I've also been reading "After Many Days," a collection of short stories by L.M. Montgomery. :D

I've read that series! \:D/ I enjoyed it, but that author likes to recap the previous stories a bit too much. ;) I've READ THEM ALREADY, thanksverymuch. Usually I just skipped pages here and there to get to the new stuff.

I have heard of him! I love his books. I haven't read the ones that you're referring to, however. He has such a nice range of books, from funny to downright scary! I have told myself several times that I am not allowed to stay up late reading some of this books, because suddenly there are bear traps under my bed and weird science experiment-style semi-human creatures trying to kill me, not to mention the crazy rat-eating guy hiding in the closet. Sigmund Brouwer is an evil genius. I really admire him. He reminds me of Paul McCusker sometimes.

Laura, you're right that his kids series' do tend to have too much repetition, but if they're being read months apart, then especially for younger readers, it's nice to have that reminder of what's going on. I tend to skim stuff like that too, though. :)

I read his biography and it says he also lives in Canada, so yes \:D/ The books are really awesome, but yes, sometimes it feels like he's describing something for the first time, when it's like, the fifth :p

Sigmund Brouwer is from Southern/Central Alberta like I am. \:D/ I used to love his kids' books. (Then I tried reading one of his adult books, and it put me to sleep after a couple of pages. :( )

I finished The Doctor's Lady last night, it was excellent!! Jody Hedlund is a terrific author and I can't wait for her next book. Next up for me is Heather Song by Michael Phillips, it is the sequel to Angel Song.

I read that book. For me it felt too fake to be real and too real to be fake, so I didn't enjoy it much. What did you think?
