What books are you reading?

In the same vein as movie/music threads...

"Books? You want books?! Ha! We've got books on hairy otters, on onions and on mars! All the fungus you could care for, plus, three triple zillion stars. We've got books on flossing teeth, plus three books on tossing sheep. If we spent our lives just counting books, we'd never get to sleep!" -Leopold the Librarian ("The Great Wishy Woz")

I'm 3/4 through The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and I just started the first Harry Potter book. I think that's all the non-devotional/non-hard Christian topics I'm reading.

Agreed. It's a fantasy book, not a realistic story or an attack on Christianity. If you've ever read the books, it's pretty obvious that J.K. Rowling isn't really expecting anybody to read it an take it seriously.
Um, I guess this is where I'm supposed to say something funny or interesting.

I am reading Know What You Believe by Paul E. Little. It is for school. I didn't choose to read it on my own.

You're free to think what you wish, but most Christians will disagree, so expect a rebuttle when you say you're reading the books. O:)

I started reading The Strong-Willed Child by Dr. Dobson, but am stuck at around page 40. :-k

Further up i noticed a disscussion on harry potter and being kind of a bible fanatic heres what it says

Deuteronomy 18:10 (New International Version)
10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

Micah 5:12 (New International Version)

12 I will destroy your witchcraft
and you will no longer cast spells.

Now for those of yuo who will undoubtedly bring up the " Well were not under the old laws routine"
Galatians 5:18-22
18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

According to this verse your right.

However please do not allow the witchcraft to affect your witness

All Quiet on the Western Front is very graphic and so far it is "a giant life on the front book" (to barrow the colloquialism) Over all it is fairly interesting, because generally we here the side of the Triple Entente, but this book is from the trenches of the Triple Alliance.

+1. I can see people disagreeing with some of the theology, but the storyline and characters made it the most epic and emotional book series I've ever read.

^^^Yeah, the theology wasn't thrilling but it had good characters and while the plot seemed to be dragged pretty thin across a lot of books, the action and dialogue was typically well written.

Anyway... I forget the name of the book I'm reading. ;) But I think its Hitman. The autobiography of Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Its roughly 500ish pages and I'm well past 400, its a pretty good read. I wouldn't really recommend it, because while not overly graphic he does lots of naughty things, and there is a lot of bad language. I suppose since its an autobiography I appreciate the honesty, though. >_>
