You're assuming? As in...you haven't read any of the books?
That is correct. I started reading it (got maybe... 20 pages in?) but boredom overtook me.

I hope so immensely. And anyway...isn't...Galadriel...married?
I was wondering what that part with Galadriel and Gandalf was all about... O.o Although I do believe she is married, so it's probably just her being... all....elfy? But my mom pointed out that she may not have been married in the Hobbit, since it is years and years before Lord of the Rings.
Still... I hope it's nothing... Because I just can't see it.
No she is definitely married. Because Aragon and Arwen would have met by now. And seeing as Arwen is her grand daughter.

Where's Jelly when Top needs to be put in his place?
I was just considering how to best respond to that, actually.. and I decided it wasn't worth it.
Yeah, I mean the trailer isn't that exciting or anything, yet I still shed tears of happiness as the nostalgia swept over me.

Termite wrote:Yeah... Peter Jackson knows his stuff. I don't think he would so strangely twist the story line.
Then why did he kill off Saruman?
In my opinion, Jackson killed off Saruman because the film was already two and a half hours long (three hours if you watch the extended version). Out of all the scenes in the book, the scouring of the Shire was probably the easiest to leave out.
What made the books so fabulous for Termite and I was that our mom read them aloud to us. (We got hooked and read ahead of her, but it was still special for her to read to us at lunch.)

I don't understand people that don't appreciate LotR or can't watch it. They must be boring people. They are by far the greatest books/films in history.

This is gonna be epic...
But what's up with Galadriel and Gandalf??
That's the spirit!

AE how could you think such a thing.
Aeva wrote:There definitely was not a romance between Gandalf and Galadriel, and I don't think there will be one in this film. I'm inclined to believe that she was just trying to reassure him in her odd, elvish way.
I started reading The Hobbit this summer, I got about one third of the way through and then I lost the book I recently found it, but haven't had time to finish it. The trailer looks interesting.

Because he's a great filmmaker, and he knew how to properly construct a plot that flows as smoothly as possible without unnecessary tired subplots or anti-climactic endings. Films > Books, although the books are still AMAZING.

I've been waiting for this moment since I was eleven and someone posted a link to OFFICIAL The Hobbit trailer on my Bebo page and I got really excited.
Seven years of pent up anticipation was finally released when I saw that trailer.

My former respect of your opinion > My opinion of VDT > You very slightly a joke but that was a completely incorrect paragraph The whole book was entirely about the Scouring of the Shire. Everything else is just buildup. That part is the true story. It's not about destroying the ring. It's about that. It's not a tired subplot. It is THE PLOT.

Don't get me wrong I LOOOVVVVEEE LotR...It's pretty much all my cousin and I talk about when we see each other and we see each other quite a bit. I'll eventually read the book. It's probably because I didn't get far into it..
