Meeting ToOers in person

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Well... I'll be 15 soon, but my parents would flip out if I asked to go to meet ToOers. How did you convince your parents?

There are some of you guys that I would love to meet. Who knows? Odyssey will probably do something for their (25th?) next anniversary.

My parents don't even know about the ToO so I'm pretty sure if I asked them if I could meet someone they'd say no cause they don't know what I'm talking about.

haha mine let me sign up but they kinda forgot about it, so they would probably think that was really weird if I wanted to meet someone I met online. :D

It would be strange to ask "Can a travel a thousand miles away to meet this person I met on the internet."

By having a 25 older brother on the forum who was also going and had met a couple of the people beforehand. :P

I haven't met anyone, because I'm the only ToOer in Africa, but I don't see anything wrong with planning to meet people in advance. \:D/ So, some time, I plan to meet people. :-

Yeah, I don't recommend meeting a random weirdo in a dark alley or anything. I met Jessicado and Jesusfreak777 in a crowded airport, for instance. \:D/ And Me was at a bookstore and David O met us at a church...

But then I just showed up at Continental Admiral's house and EK, Tim, and Chandler all showed up at MY house, so maybe I'm not one to talk. :noway:

No one I met is consistently active anymore. :( I guess JF and EK kind of are.

The first time I met a ToOer, we actually had a mutual friend, so I just checked with them first to see if they were real.
All the other ToOers I've met (over 10, don't remember the right number), I've met at a college campus where literally thousands of people were constantly roaming around.

I wouldn't just meet any ToOer though, I made sure that I knew them pretty well. Plus, I made sure that my parents knew about it (I had to remind them who everyone was and such).

I have very easy-going parents, so not everyone is the same way. But, a lot of good has come out of meeting with people on here. JesusIsAlive is now more of a friend in real life than she is on here.
