Clever AIO Character Names

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

Clever AIO Character Names

Post by Chandler »

There's an entire list in the first Guide listing names that were taken from various sources or are puns of stuff like that but I don't remember this name being brought up before.

Marianne Josephs

Get it?

Mary and Joseph!

Er-I'm wondering if that was intentional when naming her. :-k

I'm still amused that they got away with a character called "Hassen Ben-Sober."

A critic named "Rosencrantz Guildenstern" was good enough, but hearing Earl Boen groan every time he had to say the name in "My Fair Bernard" was even funnier.

Wow, really? I never realized the whole Rosencrantz Guildenstern name till now... wow, Hamlet! Deja vu!!! (I just read that book for AP Lit last quarter!)

Names are pretty funny in Odyssey... Digger Digwillow... or Digger Digger Digwillow. lol. Levi Strauss!

Agreeing with JoyElectric, Rozencrantz Guidenstern is still my favorite. What made it funnier was the way that Edwin groaned everytime his name was mentioned!

And Katrina Shanks is a New Zealand politician (although I don't think Odyssey's Katrina was named after her...). She looks similar to how I picture Katrina Shanks:

Don't forget Madge and Guy-- I didn't realize the cleverness until I read O. Henry's The Gift of the Magi in a high school English class!

That name was "borrowed" from an old Three Stooges short according to the original Complete Guide published in the 90's.

And Duncan Banquo from A Class Reenactment was named after King Duncan and the Banquos' in Hamlet.

Eugene-"Well, the sequence of events occured with extreme rapidity, but I shall attempt to recall them. I was powering my two-wheeler along this concrete pathway, when your personnage suddenly appeared directly in front of me blocking my course. My reflexes immediately sprang to life in an attempt to navigate an evasive manouveur around you while still maintaining course and speed, but I evidently over-compensated, and my Schwinn careened off the hardened path, taking me with it, and up-ended us both in this shrub, a Rhododendron of the heath family I believe, deducing from the leathery evergreen leaves, as distinguished from the deciduous Azalea, which as we all know is..."
Isaac-"You mean, you crashed into this bush cause I got in your way."
Eugene-"Well, that of course is another way of expressing it." Isaac the Benevolent
