It's also quite amusing when people say stuff about themselves and then prove themselves wrong, like, in the same post. Or right, too.
It's a convenient tool online where speech is often informal... it indicates a pause in thought yet a continuation of the previous statement and not a new sentence. You might say that a comma is more effective, but that is not true... a comma is a quick pause where as an ellipsis is a longer pause.
Also, commas cannot end sentences... but ellipses can....
