What grade?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

What grade?

Post by Danielle Abigail Maxwell »

Which grade are you? I just wanted to see what variaty we had... it seemed many graduated this past year. Meaning, many Freshman in college. But what about HS? Who will be graduating in 2010? or even later? Or even graduating Grade school? (college maybe?)

just curious... I'm a Senior myself.

Wow! I'm a Sophomore? That sounds so... old. But I suppose I really am going into 10th grade. \:D/

I may be wrong, but I think in Canada, grades are slightly different...

The school system is much different in other countries other than the USA. It seems to me that a lot of AIO listeners aren't young kids, but preteens, teens and adults.

How are they different?

In Canada we don't have those strange names for grades, so I don't know which one I am. \:D/

No offense... but wow... you've got to be kidding me...

Well, Freshman is 9th grade
Sophomore is 10th
Junior is 11th
and Senior is 12th.

I can get why Sophomore and Junior wouldn't make sense... but I would think Freshman and Senior would...

Canada may be different. But I've never seemed to notice, having a few friends from there. Now, Korea.. that would be different. We have a Sophomore who was a Junior in Korea... yeah, little bit of a difference, right?

Depends on how you place and the different countries... culture impacts too. And Canada isn't all that different from the US.

In Quebec, grade eleven is the last grade of secondary school. Then students go to CEGEP for two years, then usually to a university for three years. I dunno exactly how it is in the rest of Canada, though.

Anyway, this Monday marks my last first day of high school. Hurrah!

So they basically go to school for the same amount, its just different... cause, secondary school is four years (9th-12th), and then university usually is 4 years, but can be between 2-5 (and then medical school just drags on after that for 4-8 years... ugh...)

Interesting.

Oh? What is it... the Monday after next will be my last first day of HS. I'm excited... I want to start the school year to end HS... get on with my career... that will just drag on forever... AH!

I think most of the rest of Canada goes from Kindergarten to grade 12, and whatever post-secondary education they're interested in afterwards. :) Since education is a provincial, rather than federal, concern, each province can have its own little variations, but it's all still somewhat similar, I'm sure.

I graduated from high school years ago, but I hope that the rest of you have a great school year! :D

I voted old. Graduated high school in 2004, then college in Dec 2008, and I have a job that fits my major.

Yeah, assuming you go to university for four years, it's the same amount of time spent, just divided up a little differently.

I graduated from high school 5 years ago, so I voted for old...as that was the best fitting option for me. \:D/

Sophomore! Or as many of the theatre geeks think of me...A senior in the body of a sophomore.

Class of 2010! Meaning, of course, that I'm a Senior. I had enough high school credits to graduate at the end of my Sophomore year, but my parents didn't want me to run off to college early. So, here I am as a "Senior" now taking college classes. :p It's pretty interesting stuff. I also am working at Dairy Queen (gotta love it) and volunteering at a local radio station where I'm going to start DJing soon. ^_^
