I think there's a list of anonymous proxies somewhere on Wikipedia. You can try banning them all to see if that helps. I dunno.

There is nothing I could have gained other then being banned from the AIO wiki if I did what I was accused of. Besides, I'm not going to do anything that blatantly foolish and selfish on the internet again!

These are spam bots just like the ones forums get. They just try to spread their links as far as they can in the hopes that unmoderated forums or wikis let them stay. Not to easy to prevent them, I'd imagine, on something like the wiki.
If it's more intelligent vandalism, then it's most likely the joker type. Which is then probably someone just being mean. That's not fun either, but it is perhaps slightly more preventable as it's one person rather than the army of spam bots out there.
