The Dusty Episodes

What are they?

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

The Dusty Episodes

Post by Boswell »

I SLAP FLOOR!

So I was at work yesterday (I work at a Christian bookstore across town) and I was checking out the new additions to our product list (I’ve been anxiously waiting for the listing for the new Newsboys album, In the Hands of God, the last album for which Peter Furler will be the lead singer before Michael Tait takes over, *sniff!*). Anyways, I found this one listing that said this:

DUSTY EPISODES ADVENTURES IN ODY
FOCUS ON THE FAMILY
ISBN: 9781589974247
01/07/2009

I hadn’t heard of anything like this, so I looked further, and while there was no item description, there was a picture of the product. I took a picture of it that you can see here.

Image

So it looks like an album called “The Dusty Episodes” is being released in July, but what’s in it? I normally try to be in the know about these things, but I haven’t seen anyone here ever mention it. Does anybody know what it is?

I SLAP FLOOR!

All I can say is - it's about time. :noway:

If I had to pick, this album would include the following:

009. Doing Unto Others
011. Addictions Can Be Habit Forming
013. Bobby's Valentine
014. Missed it by that Much
021. The Case of the Missing Train Car
023. The Quality of Mercy
024. Gotcha!
025. Harley Takes the Case I
026. Harley Takes the Case II
070. The Return of Harley I
071. The Return of Harley II
085. You Go to School Where?

...with Christmas Around the World I & II being bonus MP3 tracks. \:D/

What joyous news! This better not be some very ingenious April Fools trick.

Considering "BTV: Grace," "Christmas Around the World," and "You Go to School Where?" are all currently available from Focus, I'm most interested in the really unavailable ones (handy link to the Soda Fountain). For bonus features, they could release the Harley scenes from "Rumor Has It," "The Tangled Web," and "Promises, Promises" (am I missing any?)! \:D/

I SLAP FLOOR!

Speak of the devil, I just got my Vol. 31 repack (What? I actually got one on time?!) and The Dusty Episodes was mentioned on the back of the insert. Here's a scan:

If it contains currently unavailable episodes like everybody's assuming, I hope it does include BTV: Grace and Christmas Around the World. I know you can get them from Focus, but buying individual episodes on CD is obscenely expensive. I used to have the Christmas Around the World tape, but I think we sold it. :(

My ideal list:

003: Lights Out at Whit's End \:D/
011: Addictions Can Be Habit-Forming
025, 026: Harley Takes the Case
070, 071: The Return of Harley
085: You Go to School Where?
215: Caroling, Caroling (The full version, please! We used to have that tape, too.)
370, 371: Christmas Around the World
439: B-TV: Grace

Of course, the likelihood of those two-part Harley episodes is slim, and Lights Out and Addictions would have to have him edited out, but I can dream, can't I?

This is either the cruelest April Fool's I've ever seen or the best AIO news since the "Lost Episodes" album.

Episodes that should be included:
  • 003: Lights Out at Whit's End - HARLEY
  • 009: Doing Unto Others HARLEY
  • 011: Addictions Can Be Habit-Forming - HARLEY
  • 013: Bobby's Valentine – HARLEY
  • 014: Missed It By That Much - HARLEY
  • 021: The Case of the Missing Train Car - HARLEY
  • 023: The Quality of Mercy - HARLEY
  • 024: Gotcha! - HARLEY
  • 025: Harley Takes the Case, I - HARLEY
  • 026: Harley Takes the Case, II - HARLEY
  • 070: The Return of Harley - HARLEY
  • 071: The Return of Harley - HARLEY
  • 085: You Go to School Where?
  • 370: Christmas Around the World, I
  • 371: Christmas Around the World, II
  • 438b: Telltale Cat - SPLIT
  • 439: B-TV: Grace
  • 442b: Sticks and Stones - SPLIT
  • 444a: Career Moves - SPLIT
Special Features:
  • Deleted Scene from 007: Promises, Promises (Edited - Harley)
  • Deleted Scene from 012: The Tangled Web (Edited - Harley)
  • Deleted Scenes from 029: Rumor Has It (Edited - Harley)
  • Lost Episode: The Hoax’s on You
  • 6 Unreleased AIO Shorties: "History Moment: All Saints’ Day", "What Were They Thinking: Achan", "And You Think You’ve Got Problems: The Unjust Judge", "And You Think You’ve Got Problems: Isaac", "Biography Minute: Pocahontas", "Revelation Trailer"
That's a total of 18 episodes plus the deleted scenes and Shorties... A lot to hope for.

But then it is April 1st.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with Focus... Great job whoever put together that album art. You had me going.

The picture on the The Dusty Episodes shows what looks to be from Biblical times, and if this is true could be that they are referring to Biblical episodes possibly or am I totally way off on this idea, trust me I want it to be old never-heard episodes too, but isn't that a possibility I mean a Biblical picture doesn't really make that much sense in reference to older shows does it?

I just got an email from one of the AIO staff writers. This album is actually a clever marketing ploy, though they're not sure how news got out so quickly about it and most of the info provided earlier is wrong. "The Dusty Episodes" will include 12 episodes that feature dust prominately in the story:

030: Honor Thy Parents (Laura's parents are dirty)
102: The Treasure of LeMonde (the dusty room)
171: The Cross of Cortes, I
172: The Cross of Cortes, II (caves)
226: An Adventure in Bethany, I
227: An Adventure in Bethany, II (the molding body in the grave)
355: The Search for Whit, I
356: The Search for Whit, II
357: The Search for Whit, III (clay pots in dusty mine)
367: Chores No More (no dusting!)
392: When in Doubt...Pray! (the dusty road)
414: Burried Sin (dirt box is burried in)

The cover art is not right though; it features a scene from "Chores No More" in which Odyssey is covered in dirt and grime. My source thinks this is a fan-made art based on "An Adventure in Bethany".

The date is also wrong. This album has only just been agreed on. It will be released sometime in 2010.

And I had my hopes on the still as yet unreleased episodes... *sigh*

I guess that makes sense... especially since they won't be coming out with Album 51 this year. :x
