Bucket Lists

What's yours?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Post by PJ »

My bucket list

1. Work for the hospice here in town (Maybe as a chaplain or friendly visitor)
2. Participate in Relay 4 Life
3. Participate in the local 5 K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk (The money that’s donated goes to help with expenses of people with cancer)
4. Collect at least one million pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House (family and friends included)
5. Work in a processing center for Operation Christmas Child
6. Go on a mission trip (preferably someplace where the main language is Spanish)
7. Volunteer at a homeless shelter (dish out food)
8. Read the entire Bible (multiple times)
9. Be a Bible quiz coach
10. Be involved with girl scouts
11. Visit every hospital in the nation (Hopefully without being sick)
12. Work in a hospital (custodian?)
13. Work in a post office (in the back)
14. Drive
15. Have a steady job
16. Get my own apartment (probably with a friend)
17. Be a pastor’s wife

So what's yours?
Love is stronger than death.

A "bucket list" is a list of things you want to accomplish before dying.

Oh, wow... I should have a list... I had sorta written some things down once, but lost that list... hmm... interesting... I'll post my list later when I compile it. Great idea, PJ. THANKS! :)

Subject to change and can be added to or taken away from. These aren't all really what you call bucket list things, but they are things in my life I want to accomplish.

Oh, and not exactly in this paticular order... or I'd be.. um... screwed? :)

My "Bucket List"

1. Go to Peru
2. Go to Brazil
3. Go to New York
4. Help fight cancer in a way not related to my other bucket list things
5. Do a Relay 4 Life
6. Graduate College
7. Visit Beckie’s grave again
8. Go to BJ’s grave in Africa
9. Maybe meet Brent Higgins and his wife Deanna
10. Go to Focus on the Family
11. Explore Chicago, Illinois
12. See my cousin Emeline enter kindergarten
13. Pray once every day
14. Get married
15. Finish “Finding Him, Yet Losing Him” and “Looking Down on My Little Angel”
16. Read all of Ted Dekker’s books
17. Read all through the Bible
18. Help someone every chance I get
19. Get whiter teeth
20. Fall in love with the perfect man (see “getting married”)
21. Have one child (and adopt at least one too)
22. Own every Odyssey album (1-50)
23. Make a boatload of memories in high school, college, life, and with my friends
24. Make new friends and keep the old
25. Visit Mayo Clinic
26. Visit John Hopkins Univeristy/Hospital
27. Visit Oshkosh, Wisconsin
28. Understand Second Life better
29. Explore Atlanta, Georgia
30. Go on a missions trip to... anywhere? Anywhere BUT Europe.
31. Go to a MercyMe Concert
32. See Jeremy Camp

(I could have accomplished the last two in one shot about a week and a half ago... nooooooo.... my sister didn't want to go, so neither could I...)

What is it with visiting hospitals? I find that very um... how should I put this? strange. But, to each his own I guess. :-

Mine's a slightly different style. Not that I'm against helping people or anything, but I guess I just see that as more of a day to day kind of thing. My bucket list is more about experiencing um... super duper fun stuff. \:D/

Completed

play raquetball

Not Completed

go skydiving
go zorbing
play a bugle
climb on a train by the time I'm 30 (there's a goofy story as to how that one got on the list)
visit every state (this one's partially completed, I've been to 32)
attend an olympics (summer or winter)
go to cedar point

Now I kind of feel like a bad person. I don't have any cancer walks on mine. :anxious:

I forgot to put "Speak Spanish and French fluently."

I like hospitals. They feel like home. I feel safe there.

My mother died from bladder cancer complications in August (hence my signature), so the walks are important to me.

I'm highly interested in a few. I have tis tendency to... well, be preoccupied with one thing at a time. That doesn't make sense, so.... Big hospitals intrigue me. The vastness of such a place... Myabe visit a few people, meet new people... I want to make a change in the world. It starts with hospitals... to me, at least.
Now I kind of feel like a bad person. I don't have any cancer walks on mine. :anxious:
PJ had a reason, and so do I. I know about... three people who have been lost to the disease, and three who are fighting right now to live. And there are so many more. It's my absolute passion to fight cancer. If I don't, what is my life's work? God is calling me to fight something that affects everyone (1 out of every 3 people in the world will get cancer in their lifetime.) I want to beat it. It's the only thing I can do it but to help.... (and then again, that's my reason to become a radiation oncologist person... I can't remember the name, but something around that.)

That's my story.

Oh, I might add "Speak Spanish well" to my list... I'm learning, but it's slow going, honestly....

I recently had the opportunity to play the actual arcade unit of Super Mario Bros. one last time... it had been easily 15 years since I'd had the chance to play it, probably closer to 20.

So upon doing so I think I've crossed about everything off my (reasonable) list! \:D/

1. Work at Pixar and/or Disney.
2. Write my stories down on paper and have them published/filmed.
3. Perform on Broadway.
4. Run for political office.
5. Write for Odyssey and supply a voice.
6. Make films people of all ages enjoy.
7. Get a Ph.D.

10. Ride all the coasters at Cedar Point (this goal is mostly accomplished, I just have to get over my fear of heights)
11. Go to medical school and become a doctor.
12. Work for the CIA or FBI.
13. Serve in the military in some way.
14. Travel the world.
15. Live in a big city.
