The Odyssey Scoop Homepage Revamped

Suggestions, Comments?

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

The Odyssey Scoop Homepage Revamped

Post by Jacob Isom »

I did some tinkering and updated the Scoop's homepage. You may or may not notice the changes. If you would like to submit comments or suggestions on what I can do to improve, here's the place! Mainly, what I would like to know is whether or not you like the new, fresh look as compared to what it used to look like. I'm trying to decide if the new look should stay. Suggestions are welcomed!

Hmm, your footer is broken when I view it in FF3.. The ends are lower than the middle.. *checks another browser* It looks fine in Chrome..

How does it look in FF3 now? I altered it, but not sure if it worked.

It worked! It looks great in Firefox 3.0.3.

Page looks good, nothing appears broken in FF. Does your layout scale to resolution? Because people without some kind of widescreen will probably have to scroll around otherwise which can be annoying at times.

It automatically stretches to 85% of the page's window. That way it's pretty universal. So no matter what, it should work out for users.

(Though now I'm beginning to second guess myself....)

Yay revamp time! \:D/ It looks nice! I like the larger content area and less empty space on the sides. Although I can see where it would be a problem for people who have really giant screens... This one is 17" and I have the browser window almost full screen, and it still looked good. If people browse with a window larger than that, well... that's just silly. :noway: ;)

Though I don't know enough to knowledgeably comment on the technical changes, I do like your embracing of the whole "scoop" theme, Jacob Isom. Haha, "...one cone at a time" and other witty phrases scattered throughout your pages do add a nice bit of quirkiness to the site. \:D/

A similar sort of quirkiness which made another fansite so incredibly amazing? :D ...and which needs to be resurrected?! :slapfish:

Thanks for the comments, guys! By the way, which fansite are you referring to? The Soda Fountain or something else?

I think they are referring to "Frank's Breakfast Inn," a venue that I never had the chance to visit. Frank apparently used to run that site, but it no longer exists. (Shame on me for entering the online AIO world late...)

This is a little off topic but you can see some archives of FBI.http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://hom ... et/~fbinn/

Oh yes, I remember the days of Frank's Breakfast Inn. I promoted that site quite frequently because it was so much fun to visit. Though I'm not sure why he mentioned the whole "scoop" idea. The site has had that slogan for several years now... but I'm glad people like it! And I'm glad Frank likes it too!

(Frank's probably asking, "Why are they talking about me like I'm not here?" ) ;)

Oh, and I apparently don't visit the Odyssey Scoop often enough to notice the changes. :anxious:

Tsk Tsk.... and it's one of the only AIO sites out there that has updates every few days! :(

(*sobs inside - not really, I forgive you...)

Haha, oops. :anxious: I guess, like LizzieG, I don't visit the site often enough to notice the changes. But, the changes that you've made over the years since I was last at your site have been very good, Jacob Isom. I do like that you've taken over the "quirky slogans" department now that FBI is no longer. :D

And yes, I did wonder why y'all were talking about me while I wasn't there, but all is forgiven. :truce:
