I'm going to get an IM account but-

Hmm.

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

I don't know which one to get.

Any suggestions? Which one do the majority of people on here use? Which one has the best features?

I need one with a mac program to support it as well.

Go with Yahoo/Msn. You can use Trillian with those.

I have lots of seasoned members on MSN, and lots of newer people/mid-old people on yahoo. Yahoo is the most popular for me.

Get a yahoo and msn account, and use them both in an IM client. Right now I am using digsby, but it doesn't have support for mac/linux, the latter being the one I am anticipating.

mmmmm i use one of the newer mac books an they usually come with MSN messanger, if you get that then you can talk to people who have both MSN and Yahoo Messanger. If its not already on there then you can get it at http://get.live.com/messenger/overview ooor you could download yahoo messanger (YIM) from http://messenger.yahoo.com/, you can tlk to people who have MSN on YIM too. i use YIM mostly and i luv it...if you want more of like an aol messanger then you can dowload ichat for macs on the apple website, its pretty much the same thing, but i think its rly lame honestly cuz most of my friends use YIM...

hope it helps...and if you get YIM be sure to add me =P

The problem with the generic messengers is that they are limited in features on the mac. Unfortunately, same with linux. So I have gotten around it by grabbing a messenger with even more features than the IM client for windows. Check out pidgin or digsby.

Digsby will be amazing when it comes out for mac and linux. It already is, but yeah, support for open source environment will make me happy. I don't use a mac, but I love slackware, and want to see this application for linux.

I personally prefer Yahoo IM over AIM and MSN, but I think that a lot of people use AIM more than the others... Could just be me, though. But yeah, my suggestion is Y!M.

MSN is the only one I ever bother using, because it is the grooviest indeed. \:D/
