Favorite Disney NON Animation classic
Ok how about this for a list... what are your favorite movies from the Old Disney era that weren't animated?
You know like:
Absent Minded Professor
Swiss Family Robinsons
Davey Crockett
Herbie (all 4 of them)
Apple Dumpling Gang
Mary Poppins
Old Yeller
That Darn Cat
oldies... but goodies.
(please no mention of newer "Disney" movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean or Remember the Titans... I'm talking about the old stuff.)

Holy God in love became
Perfect man to bare my blame

By His death I live again

I love That Darn Cat! I've seen it about 12 times, and I never tire of it.
The Apple Dumpling Gang (and it's sequel) were hilarious!
Swiss Family Robinsons was a really fun adventure movie. I wish I could find it!
No Deposit, No Return is an oldie, and pretty funny. Huzzah for Don Knotts!
I love the Shaggy D.A.! That was a funny movie.
And, Mary Poppins. I love the songs, and I abosolutly adore Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. She was brilliant in that role! Dick van Dyke was also good in his role.
Pollyanna was a lovely movie!
Never a Dull Moment is a really funny movie. Dick van Dyke plays a struggling actor who gets mistaken for a gangster by other gangsters.

*CAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW*
I love The Absent-Minded Professor! I haven't watched it in a few years, but my family borrowed it a million times from my aunt. I should actually look to see if you can get it in DVD now. Good times!
I do have the Mary Poppins DVD that came out the other year - I love that movie! The songs are great, as is everything else. "Votes for women, step in time..." *starts humming*

Okay, the list as follows:
Herbie (the movies about the little VW) - Very funny and far out movie!
The Absent-Minded Professor - Hilarious, far out, and included basketball!
The Shaggy Dog - Very funny movie! Far out... (starting to notice a pattern?)
Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang - Another far out movie, but funny nonetheless. Has Dick Van Dyke!!!
Apple Dumpling Gang - AWESOME! not as far out as the others, but get Don Knotts and Tim Conway together and you have a great movie!
No Deposit No return - One of the less well known ones. Very good movie!!! Again has Don Knotts!
That Darn Cat - Hilarious!

"The Gnome-Mobile".
Does anyone remember that one? I'm the only one (that I know of) that does. It has the same two kids in it that were in Mary Poppins.

Yeah, MacMurray was in the "Shaggy Dog" but not in "The Shaggy D.A." That one had Dean Jones in it though! The Top Crusader wrote:SON of Flubber!!!

I love so many of those already mentioned...The Apple Dumpling and sequel, The Love Bug and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, No Deposit No Return, The Swiss Family Robinson, Pollyanna, The Absent Minded Professor and sequel, etc. etc.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. ♡
It was MGM. I'm trying to remember the history behind it. If I remember correctly, MGM wanted to respond to the highly successful musicals of Rogers and Hammerstein (i.e. Sound of Music, King and I etc...) so they wrote a script specifically for a proven musical star in Dick Van Dyke (since Dick had previously done Mary Poppins). If I remember, this was just at the beginning of Dick's alcohol problems so this was the last big movie he ever did. When he came back, he focused primarily on television.JesusIsAlive wrote:I so thought it was... Was it 20th Century Fox or MGM or what?STRYPER wrote:Hmm, technically Chitty Chitty Bang Bang wasn't a Disney film...
....but close enough It's a classic anyway
It was a sort of tag team Fred did Disney Movies from '59 to '67 then Dean Jones took over as the star of Disney movies from '65 to '77.JesusIsAlive wrote:Yeah, MacMurray was in the "Shaggy Dog" but not in "The Shaggy D.A." That one had Dean Jones in it though!
Fred MacMurray
1959 Shaggy Dog
1961 Absent Minded Professor
1963 Son of Flubber
1966 Follow Me Boys
1967 Happiest Millionaire
...after that he left to do the show "My Three Sons".
Dean Jones
1965 That Darn Cat
1966 The Ugly Dachshund
1968 Blackbeard's Ghost
1968 Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit
1968 Love Bug
1972 Snowball Express
1976 Shaggy DA
1977 Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo
...then one could say Ken Berry "took over" with Herbie Rides again and Cat from Outer Space... but that's a bit of a stretch
