British Accents

How good is yours?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

how good is your British accent?

Can you do an "American" accent? O_o

I can pull off a decent British accent...I have confused people before. (Where are you from?) I can pick up any accent if I hear it enough.

She probably can - she wasn't born in England and has spent more time in the US than the UK. ;) Maybe she can do both well! \:D/

The only accents I can do are random and wouldn't be associated with any particular place, so any kind of British-sounding accent is, unfortunately, not something I can do. :(

I remember in school when we read the play Pygmalion (the play My Fair Lady was based on) I was the only one brave enough to read Eliza's part.

Mine British accent is ok, but by no means definitive. It's actually a sort of mix between hyper-Cockney and Australian.

Me and my cousin try to make them work.......but we both know that they aren't very good.

I have a pretty decent accent.... not good enough to pass in the U.K., but good enough that people here asked me if I've lived there or something (which I haven't).

Yeah, me and my friends always practice, like, in the mall or something and people just stare, like, "are they British?' it's funny!!

My friend and I like to use british accents when we're studying for a test. Or she uses a really high pitched voice and I try to go "scientific". haha.

I do a real snobby one. It makesw everyone kinda be in awe-like. I can do the snobbish hand-motions too! It's really fun to use it on the phone, esp hotel bcos we have lotsa tourists around. I love using that accent it makes me feel sophisticated. I got it from listening to those british jane-aunsten movies of my moms and bible-teaching tapes.
