You are talking about Castles and Cauldrens. I would say that you need to stay away from anything that requires deep magic, not like lighthearted magic, but like very very deep magic. Ex, Dungeons and Dragons.
This is going to turn into a debate, so if you haven't already, join the cambell colledge debate society in the factions list so when this is moved to that forum, you can post there.

Peri: Do you mean the TARDIS is malfunctioning again?
The Doctor: Malfunctioning? [pause] Malfunctioning? MALFUNCTIONING!?
Much of it depends on your definition of Role Playing Games.
The ones that you are referring to, such as Dungeons and Dragons, then yes, some caution must be used.
But, in the instance such as those played in Gower's Field, they're merely fun and games.
Discretion and maturity play a large role in how one plays RPGs.

I have similar sentaments of the user above me, I play an rpg entitled Kingdom Hearts, and I see nothing really wrong with it. It is a definition of dark vs. light. It would really help if you posted the rpg that you want to know if it good or bad.

Personally, I don't think Dungeons and Dragons/WoW are bad, the question is; are you believing in the game or just playing. I think it depends on who/how you are playing it. Like in the Castles and Cauldrens episode, Jimmy's cousin was all like it was real (weirdo). I don't believe in magic, its either all in the peoples heads or da work of the devil, so I played a round of D&D... I got board fast. But I still don't believe those kind of RPGs are bad inless you let your imagination run away with you. AND I don't recommend these kind of games for young kids, 'cause kids can take things so seriously.
That all I think... tee-hee. I made a funny.

I really don't think there is anything inherently wrong with RPGes. In the case of Castles & Cauldrons, as much as I dearly love Adventures in Odyssey, that was like the stupidest version of an RPG ever. It was just kids running around in the woods with a vivid imagination.
To an extent obviously you need to be careful of any demonicy magic stuff in them, but really, in a game like D&D, you aren't worshipping Satan and learning magic spells, you just say "HA I CAST A POOP SPELL AT THIS GUY!" and roll the dice. And in WoW you just click on something and shoot a fireball at it or something. It's not like you are forsaking your faith and actually learning dark arts or something.
The only real problem I have with RPGs is that some people can become obsessive with them... I know people who are addicted to WoW or who constantly are playing random pen and paper RPGs... but, you know. Moderation. Anything is wrong if you become obsessed with it and want to do nothing else.
