What's with the Underwear Jokes in Odyssey?
I've noticed a bit of "awkward" (for lack of a better word) content scattered around the Novacom-and-on era in Odyssey, and I question the inclusion of it. But the strangest was the discussion of Whit's pink underwear in "Nothing But the Half-Truth". (Yes, you read it right.) I found it very inappropriate that he was discussing this with Marvin. Anyone else feel a bit disturbed by this?

I was very disturbed. Good, it wasn't just me.
Were you disturbed in "Missionary: Impossible" as well? I believe it was Alex that you could "see" his underwear underneath the tribal dress thingie... ?

Well, I was a little bugged too, but not that much. I wouldv'e excepted that joke if it had ended there.JacobIsom wrote:I was very disturbed. Good, it wasn't just me.

But it didn't, and so it is known as the dirtiest jokes on Odyssey.

i havent heard the ep with the PINK UNDERWEAR de Whit yet...ew
and the underwear thing with Alex isnt THAT bad...it could be worse i guess...for older listeners it seems pretty "innocent" i guess but for younger listeners it could be a lil inapropriate....

These jokes weren't Odyssey's high points, but it could've been worse. Whit's pink underwear was just pointless in episode Nothing But the Half Truth...Alex's Star Wars underwear in Missionary Impossible was pretty funny, but bad mental picture as others already stated. Also, we learned that Wooton wears powerboy boxers in...Welcoming Wooton...I think. That was kind of pointless also, but it did help develop Wooton's great passion for Powerboy comics.

i agree it's super awkward. Another one is when Wooton sings the birthday song and Mrs. Randolph comments on his Power Boy boxers.
Yikes.
Yikes.
I am the only one to blame for this
Somehow it all ends up the same

I agree completly. Many 7 and 8 year olds won't think anything more of the underwear jokes than hilarious jokes.Rachel Maxwell wrote:I didn't think they were that bad, I just thought that they were silly. Really little kids won't think anything about it and older kids will just think it's silly. That's my complaint; they're silly.
Yes, Yes, and yes. When I first heard that one that is exactly what I thought.Waluigi Freak 99 wrote:Anyone else feel a bit disturbed by this?
Just smell those burning leaves, the warm baked bread, and the hot apple cider. Ahhh.

But at least it cleared up the age old "Whit: Boxers or Briefs?" debate.Waluigi Freak 99 wrote:I didn't think that the first were that bad. I just thought that the line was crossed during discussion of Whit's undergarments. I'll never be able to think of Whit the same way again . . . the mental picture was unwelcome.

i wasn't disturbed in the least! there's only so many things they can do not to "offend" people. i don't know if it's just because i have five brothers, or if its because it's really not that big of a deal.Mara Jade wrote:Hmm...I've never heard about Whit's pink underwear...
Alex then says, "Do you want me to take them off?"
And then Nathaniel yells. "No!"
I found that comical....
if thats the only thing "wrong" with adventures in odyssey...praise the lord! i'm happy with that! haha!
