*gasp* I just got...

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

A record player for all those awesome LP recordings on vinyl you can get.

I know! Hence my "yay!" From my point of view though, I had records as a kid. So you calling it retro is funny. \:D/

Record players are sweet. Unfortunately, my parents were so excited about new technology that they threw ours out as well. Though, to their credit, we hadn't used it in years and it was just taking up space in the garage.

In catalog there is a "Retro Turntable". And my mom had one, so she says it shouldn't be called retro. (she is older than you, btw)

I remember being little and making the mistake of jumping around while a record was playing. :anxious: Oops!

We used to have a player that had a record thing, a tape deck and a CD player all together in one system, which was really nice, but then the speakers went and we got a newer one which (of course) didn't have a record player on it. I'm not sure where the old one went, but we still do have a bunch of records somewhere.

My dad has a record player... and a fancy one too. And I mean very fancy. He paid a lot of money for it back in the day. It can play 33 and 45RPM vinyls, and it has anti-tracking, anti-skip, and a special needle, etc etc... he told me once, and it went way over my head, but it was enough for me to know it's special. ;) It also has a cast iron base, to help with stability. You can jump around all you like and it won't skip. Very high quality sound, as well. Around the same time he bought fancy Bose speakers worth $2000. Big things.... he got a deal and bought them for something like $500. :-

And of course we have a collection of 33's to play on it. \:D/

It's hooked up to an amp which we also have hooked up a high quality cassette tape deck, and a CD player. Radio is built into the amp. :-

We don't listen to our record player much anymore, but it sits right above our t.v. It's kind of cool since it also has a radio and a built in A-track thing. Christmas is about the only time we use it so we can listen to our Bing Crosby records.

That is so cool! I prefer older stuff too--like I just got a super nintendo and I am so jazzed! I never even touched our Playstation 2! Have fun with your LPs!
