Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!
I just figured out some kind of problem in Odyssey. How can Rodney buy spraypaint in Gathering Thunder. He's under aged and wouldn't the sale clerk refuse to sell him the paint considering his less than shining reputation? Odyssey sells spray paint to minors !
The laws are different all over... especially 11 years ago when that show aired. It's not illegal where I am for minors to purchase spray paint (then or now).
Yeah. But it was illegal in another episode, I think it was No Boundaries.
-------------------------------------------- "I’m done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning,
smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap
living, and dwarfed goals...I am a disciple of Jesus."
Maybe the law changed. There were five years between the Darkness Before Dawn series and "No Boundaries." But that is a very good point! Maybe somebody should point this out to the writers. (Although, as Arwen said, it is very possible that Rodney is now over 18 but still in high school.)
It's possible that it was legal for Rodney to buy the spraypaint in "Gathering Thunder", but then the law changed, and it was illegal in "No Boundaries". A five-year gap separates the two episodes. However, it seems odd that mayor Tom Riley would allow the sale of spray-paint to minors.
Was Rodney actually heard purchasing the spray paint? (I haven't heard that episode.) It's quite possible that he stole it.
We don't actually hear him buying it, but Jellyfish seems to assume that he did, since he says that the clerk would be suspicious tomorrow when he hears that something was vandalized with candy apple red spray paint. I can't remember for sure, but I think that Rodney said that he bought it, as well.
Spray paint isn't a controlled substance in all areas. Laws against surprise me more than a lack of laws, so perhaps Odyssey was formerly in the same happy mindset as me.
