Long Bike Rides?

What's the longest you have ever been on?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Long Bike Rides?

Post by Danadelfos »

We're about to go on a 26 mile bike ride... I think my longest has been around 40 miles.

Ya, I'm with Top, does stationary biking count? If not, I think the longest was a 20 something ride to a town next to ours. And that was when I was like 11 years old. My mom always had the most interesting ideas for homeschooling field trips.

I don't know, but I really should go on one soon. This summer, I've been biking frequently around my neighborhood and the neighboring neighborhood. It's fun, fast, good exercise, and a way to get fresh air!

I biked a little over 70 miles one day on Spoke Folk. I don't know if I'd do it on my own, but it's nice going with lots of friends and some support vans :) And long bike rides make it so easy to fall asleep at night.

Wow, that is entirely too long to stay on a bicycle! Even on a stationary bike I can only burn about 500 calories in one sitting. That's about 20 minutes I think. Not sure how many miles that is. Point being, I don't have enough to keep me occupied mentally when I'm riding a bike to keep me interested. That's why I like ball sports so much, you're playing a game or something and I don't even think about exersise.

Our family went on a 30 mile bike ride when we were about 8 or 9 years old. It was a very long day, let's just say. I had a lot of fun biking in the direction away from our car, but towards the end of the day when it was time to turn around, we all thought we were going to die. We barely made it back to our car. I think by the end of it all, we were so tired we actually walked our bikes back!

(Our family's not in shape -- not fat, mind you -- just not in shape.)
