I'm one of those people who always felt super, super guilty skipping class for being sick, and now that I'm in university I'm almost relieved that you're usually better up showing up sick than missing it. I've only skipped class once since starting university, and that was because a.) I had a big group project to work on and we couldn't fit it in any other time, b.) I had a friend in that class, so I could borrow her notes, and c.) I really, really hated that class anyways, so I wasn't too stressed out by the thought of skipping.

Good. You need to. For some reason you're accustomed to cutting class, and that's not a good thing. You lose much knowledge and grades suffer without being there, and your instructors (if it's a small enough class) won't respect you. I think you're a pretty classy college kid, Shen, so I dare you to attend every class this semester, unless you absolutely cannot like Amy said.Shennifer wrote:I've skipped classes because I've been sick, tired, my alarm malfunctioned, or I'm just plain lazy.American Eagle wrote:Why would you skip classes? and yes, I am paying to be there. That's why I'm going to try to do better this time

Nice to see you're as judgemental as ever.American Eagle wrote:Good. You need to. For some reason you're accustomed to cutting class, and that's not a good thing. kidding (mostly)
thanks for saying I'm classy, though I don't know if I'll take you up on your dare; one can never predict the future
and btw, I get three absences in each of my classes before it affects my grade.
Till the end of the line.
I like going to class because I get to see all my friends.
I don't know how many classes I've skipped in total, but I remember that in my first year of university I skipped one to study for a chem quiz that was the next hour and I got 100% on the quiz because of that, and that bio class was just about the life of Mendel and nothing that was going to be tested ever so it was probably one of the best lectures to skip.
This semester so far seems a lot nicer than last semester. I'm only taking 5 classes instead of 6 which makes such a huge difference!! Also, on several days I have breaks between my classes so I actually have time to study during the day and don't have to wait until 7pm at night to start studying (once I was done class/labs and cooking it always was late last semester). Even though my classes do seem a ton harder (and super scary) I'm finding them interesting. Also, I'm pretty sure that civil was the right choice for me because mechanics of materials is looking to be my fave class this semester. Fluid mechanics seems really scary... and thermodynamics looks really difficult too.

Mine wasn't too bad, I would have practiced, but after doing so many timed prompts for AP English and after being in debate for so long, writing pretty things comes easy to me. I'm sure you did great don't fret too much over it!T.S. (myself) wrote:That's a large difference from mind. I got a great score, but I would never want to read mine again. I practiced with 20-30 prompts ahead of time, and I literally felt that you could switch a few words in each essay, and they would be the same thing.Graces4you wrote:I got mine back the other day too my writing section was a beautiful 5 paragraph essay that I wrote in 25 minutes. Thank you AP lang and comp for teaching me to write pieces of art in no time at all

I missed 2 weeks work of Missions class last term because of my health. Missing those classes hurt my grade because my college designs classes so that you have to be in class.
I'm sick today with a common cold. Is it weird that I don't mind these? My health is crazy so normal problems are wonderful.

I haven't had a normal week of school in 6 weeks...... 5 cancelled days and it's only January......,
Vice President Joe Biden is visiting my college on Wednesday, which means I have no classes that day because they're closing the whole building.

Finally well enough for a shift at Abuela's. She got a new chair that she hates (even though it is exactly what she needs). Before I left I discovered that she had a torn nail that she didn't feel. She doesn't register pain as pain and never has. This is part of why treating her is difficult. She can't say what hurts.

I live in one of the southern states that got affected by the snowstorm. It's been interesting to see snow that actually sticks. We usually don't get much more than a flurry or two.

Today, I gave my second speech for my public speaking class. I was extremely nervous. Overall, my speech went well. There were a few times where I had difficulty pronouncing a word or two (for some reason that happens to me when I am really nervous). I got my grade tonight, and I got an A on my speech! I was very surprised and happy about that.

That's wonderful, Sapphire. Good job. What was the topic of the speech?

Congratulations, Sapphire! I know all too well how bungling a couple of words when you're nervous can be. Good job on your A.

Back in January I was accepted to Word of Life Bible Institute in NY and a week ago I confirmed with them that I will transfer there this fall. I'm excited and scared. The plan is to attend there for two years than go down to Boston Baptist College for another two years. I'll end up with a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies with an minor in something......
