I don't know about Laura and Watson, but I was not a Baptist before being Reformed Baptist. I was previously part of a "Brethren" church, if you wish to call it that (though it was more non-denominational than anything else), and then my family moved to a Reformed Baptist church because we liked the preaching. We used to go to a non-denominational Bible church...then we moved, started reading/hearing more Reformed things and were like, "Hey, this is what we already believe because it's what the Bible says! Cool! We must be Reformed!"
