Who am I? I'd rather not answer that question, the real question is, "Who are you?". Right now I am trying to think of something witty to put here.. I might not find anything, but that's fine. This block of text should be fine for a signature. Wait, are you still reading this? Why are you reading this? Stop. Seriously. This sentence is true.
The sentence above is false.
I dare you not to read this.Maybe if I talk like this.
Wait, you still see me? *sighs* I give up.

That basically sums up my opinion of screamo. Not a fan.
Um, I guess this is where I'm supposed to say something funny or interesting.
Just to let you know, it's 'screamo,' not 'screameo,' and screamo does not refer to simply any music with screamed vocals. It specifically refers to a sub-genre of emo music with hardcore punk influences. There isn't much screamo being made nowadays, but if you're interested you might wanna check out Indian Summer, Pg. 99, or Comadre. Also some of Emery's stuff is screamo-ish, and they're Christian.
Anyways, I do like some of the music you posted. Oh Sleeper is metalcore (and is awesome), and I really like their song Hush Yael.
To those of you who simply hate the very mention of 'screamo,' know that it is something that can actually be artistic and creative, and a lot if it has emotional depth and is not simply angry or depressing.
edit: I sound like such a know-it-all.

Yanny, Love and Death is not screamo. Try The Chariot for something a little closer.
he/him | a little stinker.
Well...actually (lol) The Chariot is nowhere near screamo. They're basically chaotic metalcore. And they are extremely good.

No no, Oh Sleeper is screameo, some of their songs are slower but must are screameo. And yes that song is amazing.
Agreed, and doing real legit screameo screaming takes serious talent.
That's not my name and yes they are, and you can't say a bad thing about them because Brain Head Welch is a freaking boss.Steve wrote:Yanny, Love and Death is not screamo. Try The Chariot for something a little closer.

I'm just curious, how exactly do you define this 'screameo' you are referring to?

Wikipedia:
"Screamo is a hardcore punk-influenced subgenre of emo that predominantly evolved from emo, among other genres, in the early 1990s. This initially involved a more aggressive offshoot of emo music that developed in San Diego in 1991 and used short songs that grafted 'intensity to willfully experimental dissonance and dynamics.'"
Stuff like As I Lay Dying, Underoath, and Oh Sleeper. It always has screamed vocals throughout the song, the bands usally have 4 - 5 members consisting of a vocalist, a drummer, a bassist, and one or two guitarists. Of course not all bands that have these things are screameo bands.

Because under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, he has a right to do so. If you post a thread about screamo, people are going to post their opinions about it--positive or negative.UNCLEBITTLES wrote:Then why the heck are you posting here?Crazy 4 Pugs wrote:

I believe Ric was being sarcastic. He asked you to define "screameo" rather than "screamo" because he believes--correctly--that "screameo" is not a correct spelling.UNCLEBITTLES wrote:Wikipedia:

All that said, I'm not a big fan of screamo myself. This two-person band was performing in my school cafeteria, and the guy on the guitar was screaming his head off about lyrics that, when I could actually understand them (a rare thing in and of itself), made me want to puke. My table was also about fifteen feet away from the speakers. That has basically turned off screamo in any form to me.

"Death's got an Invisibility Cloak?" "So he can sneak up on people. Sometimes he gets bored of running at them, flapping his arms and shrieking..."

If you only want positive opinions, perhaps you should rename your thread the 'Screameo' Appreciation Thread or something to that effect.

Bonus points if you know of the book from which their name is derived.
