So, You Think You Can Sing?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

So, You Think You Can Sing?

Post by Bren »

Do you fancy yourself a singer? What part do you sing? I can sing high parts so I'd say tenor. I find it funny that tenor in a choir and tenor in a quartet are vastly different.

I love to sing \:D/ I sing soprano or alto, depending on the range of the song. What I really like doing though, is singing solos, and two part harmony, with country/folk songs, or gospel hymns.

I don't know much about singing, and I don't know how good I am.

I can sing soprano or alto... but much better soprano :) I don't have the nerve to sing a solo though so I don't know how good I am.

I am a Tenor 1 and I love it because I get all the awesome melodies :) I was in Honor Choir this year, and am going to try out for Opus next year.

I can't/don't sing (well one choir member would argue that) but.... if I did it would be bass.

I like to sing! \:D/ I'm better than some, not as good as others. :- I usually sing soprano. My sister sings alto/tenor, Watson sings bass, and my dad can sometimes sing tenor, so it's nice when we've learned certain songs in 4 part harmony. \:D/

Well, in a choir, they usually don't distinguish between 1st and 2nd Tenors, just like they often don't distinguish between Baritones and Basses. However, sometimes they do get seperated out.
I'm personally a Baritone, but I sing mostly from the Bass line.

However, in a Quartet, or a men's choir, it's almost always divided out, because they want as much variety as possible.

On a side note, has anyone ever sung Mozart's Requiem? I think it's beautiful, even if Mozart didn't finish it himself...

I like to sing and i think I'm fairly good at it sometimes. I've sung alto and soprano, alto in choir. Also, I used to take voice lessons :) fun times.

I can't sing. :- Though sometimes I mouth along to my iPod and pretend I can, which is awkward, because a.) nobody else around me can hear the music and b.) almost all of my favorite artists are male, so basically, I'm pretending to sing like a dude.
