10 YEARS?

Post by Marvin D. »

has it really been 10 years? \:D/

so i joined the toO back when i was an annoying little twerp (as MITCHnTRENT) so many many years ago, in November of 2009, back when i looked like...
Image
:boohoo:

and honestly, i had so much to learn from my days of shaming everyone who didn't agree with my rigorous ideology and from running away from all the terrible heathens that lurked in the dark corners of the forums. but i met so many incredible people over the years, people who challenged my mindset, people who i chatted with late into the night when i was a lonely lil kid in the middle of nowhere in Ghana, and so much more. from Ben Linus/Claudia who I used to RP with and who inspired me to write a short story about our adventures which eventually turned into a full blown book series which I sold across the U.S., to IDANCE4JESUS/Mercy who sent me dozens of packets of Kool-Aid, comics, letters, and even an iPod which she loaded up with music because she knew how hard all of that was when I lived in Ghana, to everyone else who I met, and chatted with over the years, it's been a blast <3

there's radgeek and Christian A. and Invisible Ninja and The King's Daughte, and JCGJ who I met in person (some multiple times), and who played such a big role in my younger years; people like Jelly, 31899, and Quad-J who challenged what I believed; and EMBEE, snubs, Knight Fisher, bookworm, Tigerintheshadows, Moontide, Trixie and AE, with whom I spoke with on-and-off over the years. there's dozens of people i'm forgetting, but thank you anyways \:D/

so here we are, 10 years and over 25k posts later (cuz i'm counting the deleted ones too!, looking a little LOT rougher around the edges...

:mecry:

i've long ago moved on from the ToO, at least in the sense that I'm no longer nowhere as involved as I was several years ago. i still speak with some ToOers quite regularly, and it's interesting to see how we've all changed, matured, and developed into different people. i currently live in Amsterdam, after half a year in Madrid, and graduation around the corner. I don't think I'd have expected me to be here, doing what i'm doing 10 years ago, but to be fair, i also don't really recognize who i was all those years ago. and that's a good thing, i guess.

anyways, thanks for putting up with me. slide into my DMs and say hey if we haven't chatted for a while. maybe i'll see all of y'all in 10 years again \:D/

I'm really glad you're part of our community Marvin!

It definitely doesn't seem like ten years. (Of course it hasn't been for me, I was on hiatus when you originally joined.)

Whoa, ten years! That's awesome. :D I'm so glad that you continue to pop by sometimes and update us on what you're up to, Marvin. I love the big smile you have in the pictures you shared. It was nice to read about how people on the ToO have impacted your life.

Aw I love this so much. \:D/

I remember when I was in Burkina Faso for a month back in 2011 or 12 and I befriended a guy who offered to "hop over" to Ghana with me, and for a moment I thought I might have a chance to find & meet you in your natural habitat. Alas it didn't happen. :(

I so admire what/who you've become and the adventures you've undertaken. Here's to the next decade!
