Virgin Galactic spaceflight

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Virgin Galactic spaceflight

Post by bookworm »

Didn't post this when it was live, but it deserves a thread. We have officially entered the age of space tourism after Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson joined the first fully crewed flight of his Unity ship last week, reaching the edge of the atmosphere.

It's so different from a usual space vehicle, the design and operation is fascinating. (see 41:40 in the video)

I didn't watch the video. I heard about this on the news and thought it was crazy. I guess I can see why some people would want to do space tourism. It just seems like a ton of money....though clearly the participant so far could afford it!

Yeah, affordable space tourism is a completely different phase we are still a very long way from. But to become accessible to everyone like they say is the goal this is a big first step.
