Re: 045: What Are We Gonna Do About Halloween?

First, fun fact, this was the first AIO episode I ever heard. The second was The Twilife Zone. So, kinda a weird introduction. I actually liked how this was handled. Halloween was a touchy subjects in some corners of American Christianity at the time (still is, I'm sure, just not in my current corne...

That sounds a really interesting read, if possibly stomach-turning at times.
Yes, and yes. Hubbard was a disturbed man.

Re: What books are you reading?

Currently reading Duel: Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and the future of America. It tells the story of the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. That part takes place I believe toward the end. I've been wanting to read this for a long time but had to put it off until now because of my fi...

Re: Stupidest Episodes

Castles and Cauldrons. Both of my parents grew up in the church, happily walked away from the faith, and came back to the faith in the early 80s. Christianity (and spirituality in general) went through a weird time in the 80s. So my parents (moreso Dad) came out of the decade with some interesting b...

Preach. There's a reason my first term was also my last.

Re: What books are you reading?

Been a while since I've posted in this thread (and have read a lot of books between my last post and now), but thought it worthwhile to say I'm reading Diary of Anne Frank. It's incredible what I didn't get to read in high school and college, and this was one I missed, so I'm rectifying that now.

Re: 2022 Summer Plans

June has arrived folks. Time for everyone to enjoy the summer. Up here in Minne-snow-ta we call it a twelve week holiday. To answer the question though, I'm taking lots of pto (got over four months saved up, gotta start using it), but no travels until the fall, and that'll be going to northern Minn...

Re: Thoughts and questions about Odyssey from someone who listened for the first time in a decade

2. It seems like the newer Odyssey is still looking for its identity. [...]And like every album now has some sort of crime or conspiracy? In my opinion, the reason why people were so attached to the Blackgaard chronicles and NOVACOM is because they were good builds, had some filler episodes to let ...

Re: Hardest Life Experiences

There are two that come to mind. The first is that on December 15th, 2006, one of my best friends passed away. She was 21, I was 20, and we had known each other since we were 5. The next few months were a dark time. The second was my bout with covid last year. I got sick on July 28th, was diagnosed ...

Re: Morrie and Suzu

Yeah, the 2010 thing is a bit of a stretch. That was when I stopped listening, and when the new voice of Whit came along. So what, generation 4 of AIO kids/characters? It's like Sherlock: throw out season 4 and it's the best show BBC ever produced. Or like how the Matrix is a good movie; it should ...

Re: Morrie and Suzu

Oh, and that brings me to the biggest deal: Morrie and Suzu are criminals, and they endangered children and threatened them with imminent death. Geez, quit listening for a few years and you miss a lot. Mr. Whittaker made bad decisions, didn't involve the parents of the threatened children, and retr...

I've thought about reading that book. It isn't very long, but I assume it's quite serious reading, given the topic. Would you recommend it?
Yes, haunting though it is.

Re: Places You've Lived

I've been to Atlanta once, and it snowed. I wouldn't recommend that. The whole city shut down over what was a dusting to this Minnesotan while I laughed at the airport waiting for my flight to get cancelled. To answer the original question, I've lived in two states, three zip codes, and at five addr...

Re: Daylight Saving Time

I had a three day weekend this weekend and had to be up earlier for work than normal on Thursday so I changed my clocks on Wednesday and I still had trouble waking up on Sunday and today. So yes, I'm in favor, as long as we go with the later times. I kinda like the sun still being up at 9pm this far...
