Re: Danger: Wildlife on Road
I saw a turtle crossing the highway today. Luckily, he had already made it across my lane. Finally, an animal that I don't have to worry about darting into my path! My sister actually ran over a turtle once. Her only comment was that it was crunchy. \:D/ She is apparently not as softhearted as the ...

Re: Dr. Wise's Question/Advice Room
:inlove: Okay. I'd say I'm in the middle. This abstract, arcance concept of fate (the stars) makes a nice scapegoat to blame for a myrida number of problems: divorce, death, problems with relationships, and even trivial issues. "That's just how things are." Romeo and Juliet couldn't turn ...

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
So, I finally watched Catching Fire , and I think I must be missing something because I was fairly unimpressed by it. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high or something, but it didn't strike me as particularly good, or particularly memorable. Honestly, I think I actually liked the first one ...

The Y.A.K. Problem might be a good one to consider. As I recall, a big chunk of it takes place in school, and the rest of it is mostly kid-centered anyway.

A couple more of the horrible books I've read lately. \:D/ The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima. Starring characters so utterly perfect and generally two-dimensional that it still astounds me that this book ever got published. Probably because of all those people out there who totally relate to ...

A show on the Disney channel last night mentioned Kierkegaard, and it reminded me of Jelly.
I wonder how many people are still stuck on, "A show on the Disney channel mentioned Kierkegaard".

She’s also not found anywhere in J.R.R. Tolkien’s original fantasy novel, or in any of Tolkien’s other writings for that matter. Then... what is she doing here? :? Besides letting the filmmakers cash in on what's hot right now and providing the fangirls in the audience with their love story? Not a ...

For a while, I was still desperately trying to believe that Peter Jackson hadn't completely succumbed to commercialism and/or political correctness. Re: How did you get that username?
As all the Whovians on the board probably guessed, I chose my username partially because of Sally Sparrow in "Doctor Who". I also chose it because of a character named Vrell Sparrow in the fantastic Blood of Kings trilogy by Jill Williamson.

Okay, I gotta say 'Hide' is, so far, my favorite episode of this half of the series. \:D/ Clara is really starting to come into her own, now that we seem to have gotten through all the introduction-to-the-new-companion episodes. Re: Books mentioned in Odyssey
The Four Million by O. Henry and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are both mentioned in either part one or two of "The Pact" (episodes #511 and #512). I'm positive there were other books mentioned in that episode, but I can't remember their titles off the top of my head. :( Also, this do...
