Re: Random Tidbit Discussion Thread
I've heard of the reported health benefits of dark chocolate, but unfortunately I can't stomach the flavor. I'm with you, bookworm! I have friends who are like, "Oh, 85% dark chocolate is sooo good," and I'm more like, "There seems to be a hint of something darker than milk chocolate...

Re: Ask an Optician
Are you the kind of person who picks out a different style of glasses every time, or do you try to get them to look as similar to the last pair as possible? I've actually only purchased glasses twice. In both instances my absolute priority was comfort. Some people have faces that look great in pret...

Re: Ask an Optician
Have you ever had a favorite pair of glasses? What motivated or caused you to become an optician? Are you likely to get tired of questions related to your job? ;) What's your favorite month? Yes! Usually they're ones that look good on a variety of people. They're really helpful if people are indeci...

Re: What books are you reading?
Just finished Till We Have Faces by the incomparable C.S. Lewis. First fiction book I've read in quite a while. It reminded me of how good Lewis's stuff is.

Re: Ask an Optician
What would make contacts unsuitable for someone who wears glasses (just in terms of things that pertain to vision correction)? Is there any correlation between good night vision and astigmatism? One of the main issues that I know of that would make you unsuitable is dry eye. There are probably also...

Ask an Optician
Hey! It's your friendly neighborhood optician. Open for questions. Feel free treat this as a general questions thread if you like. Or if you are a glasses/contact wearer and there's something you don't understand about how your eyeballs work (or don't work as the case may be) I'll answer those as be...

Re: Is there an ... intro thread?
I never knew you were on CBH! What was your username? I was RoseHannah. Hopefully that's not too embarrassing to admit. :anxious: So I actually didn't even remember until I checked the "For CBH Members" sub-forum. I was Lionprd12 in ye olden times. Also, I do have a vague recollection of ...

Re: Is there an ... intro thread?
Hi, welcome! :D There is an intro thread that you can post to here: https://www.thetoo.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1115&start=8340 It sounds like the forum you're talking about is CBH? I was a member there years ago, so it's fun to meet someone from back in the day! I'm glad that this crazy ye...

Re: Podcasts?
Yeah, I kind of have a similar experience with audio books. I feel like they scratch a similar itch for most people, but they never really appealed to me. I'm also pretty much over the formula and melodrama of most of today's t.v. shows, so podcasts are pretty much all I have left.

Podcasts?
So, I'm a big fan of podcasts. They're great to play in the background at work, while cooking dinner, etc. HOWEVER several of my go-to podcasts have perished, or are updating slower than I listen. :- So I need some new ones to fill the void! Some that I already have on my list are: 1.) Stuff You Mis...

Basically anything by The Oh Hellos, but specifically: "Thus Always to Tyrants," "Rose", and "Where is your Rider." Arcadia Wild: "Man in Room 39" Orla Gartland: "Why Am I Like This" is a guilty pleasure. Gradience: "Bleak" A reflection on ...

Re: Lurker Central
As a serial lurker wherever I go, I personally tend to not interact (unless it is on a topic that I am intensely interested) because I perceive my own thoughts to be unnecessary at best and off-putting/annoying at worst. I remember the days when the forum was a lot more active and I think having mor...

Re: Marvel's Eternals
I read this as "Marvin's Eternals" at first, which I suspect would be a very different movie.
I'm kind of at the point where it feels like I've seen basically every superhero film, because I've seen at least one superhero film.

Re: Welcome/Goodbye
I was always pretty (hyper) active in the Randoms, but I was more a lurker in the rest of the ToO. So, I've always assumed that most people either had no idea I existed or had only a vague idea of who I was. So I am in no way surprised that your brain didn't choose to allocate the space to store tha...

My original username was Oriana's Fire. As I recall there was a great pirate vs. ninja debate, which prompted the name change.
