Actor connections
We all know Hal Smith played Whit in the early incarnation of the show. We also all know that Dave Madden played Bernard Walton. But did you also realize that Hal Smith was a voice actor in the 1970s cartoon series "Partridge Family 2200 A.D."? Dave Madden did not reprise his role as Reube...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
I'd disagree on the point that she was intended to be related to someone. It's been made very clear that JJ made questions. He didn't have any answers to them. I am with you on this. Rian Johnson may have been the director but he did not have full creative control over the movie. Not by a long shot...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
If somebody is reading a Last Jedi thread at this point (the movie has already been on home video for a couple weeks now) I think it's safe to leave spoiler tags out. If somebody is going this deep into a thread on a movie they haven't seen...well...that's kind of on them, sorry. "The first mov...

Re: The New Whit
As much as I want AIO to stay just like it was in my childhood, I would hate for them to end the show. We can always just listen to the old albums if the new episodes get too disappointing... But I really do hope the series never loses its soul. Nothing lasts forever, though. Would it be better to ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
I know it seems this movie divided a lot of fans, which puzzles me. Is it just me or is there more and more either you hate it or love it when it comes to different forms of media on social media platforms? It's like fans can no longer just view something with grey areas...it seems social media, esp...

Re: Odyssey and Homosexuals
I would like to see the show tackle the topic. And they could do it in a way without condoning the sexual acts. After all, like another poster said, it is a sin, but not any worse than any other sins. In fact, when it's mentioned in the New Testament it's after a long list of other sexual (heterosex...

Re: The New Whit
I think Paul Herlinger sounded more like Hal Smith overall, but Andre Stojka has certain inflections in his voice that sound more like Hal than Paul did. Definitely overall not quite the close match that Whit 2 was, but I do think he grows on you after a while. I sincerely hope so. I really don't w...

Re: Choices
I understand that there were young Earth teachings in the past. I am not ignorant on that topic, sir. But the fact remains there were more who taught it was allegorical and not literal in the past. And that those who taught a young Earth declined in the 18th century. It only saw a rise again after t...

Choices
I was wondering what other people think of the episode "Choices." I recently listened to it on my journey through the series from episode 1 to current. I think they treated the topic of evolution flippantly and had some misinformation in there. Such as the monkey sound when the kids were w...

Re: Marvel's Inhumans
Yeah I vaguely recall Crystal, maybe, being a stand-in in the FF when Sue was pregnant or something? This is going back many years so I could be entirely wrong. :( While I'd probably prefer ALL the Marvel stuff to be under one banner, I am mostly okay with the X-men kind of existing as their own po...

Re: Marvel's Inhumans
I am sad to see one of my all time favorite underrated Marvel teams treated in such an insipid manner. I am very disappointed. Plus wasn't Inhumans on the list of future Marvel films for a few years there, then suddenly got dropped to a TV show... sad. :( You are right. Official word is Feige felt ...

Re: America's Got Talent (Season 12)
I usually turn into at least watch the comedians and magic acts. But all the acts I've seen this year have really disappointed me. Even the magic acts they have advanced to the final rounds have been extremely disappointing and too easy to figure out how they did the tricks. Watching the judges droo...

Happy Birthday Hal Smith. He would have been 101 today. (and, unlike his memorable character Otis Campbell, he did not drink at all).

Re: Dated episodes
The Blackgaard saga was wonderful in many ways, but the one thing that strikes me about its earlier episodes is that the writing staff at the time didn't know a lot about technology. It was passable when addressing a captive and uninformed audience, but a bit cringeworthy to those 'in the know'. No...

Dated episodes
I think a lot of the episodes from the series are timeless. But, as with any long running series, there will be exceptions. Off the top of my head, the Castles And Cauldrons two parter is certainly dated. Whether or not you like the game the episode is based on, which is personal preference, it cert...

Re: Spider-Man Homecoming
guys remember how good the original spiderman trilogy was though? I think the first two movies nailed Spider-Man but the third was such a let down for me. Have you, or anybody here, seen the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series on Kids CW a few years back? It was fantastic. I thought that they ha...

Starting over
This week I've decided to listen to the entire series again. Starting with Family Portraits episode one, I plan on going through each episode in chronological order (where possible...I know a few are very hard to find and hopefully I can find the missing episodes before they come around on my playli...

Re: Agnes Riley
This thread brings up something I've contemplated for a long time: Why doesn't this show just deal with the age and the passing of time in a somewhat realistic way? Obviously, some of the characters remain as ageless as characters do in The Simpsons, but even The Simpsons dealt with death from time ...
