To me, the story now seems less real, and some of the drama (IE Eugene's dad) seems a bit fake.

okay, i've had some time to read the book, and yes it does have a ton of information. i went back and looked at the old book and forgot just how much of it contains a synopsis of each episode.

so for those of you who have listened to the episodes, how do they stack up against "regular" Odyssey episodes?

i read that some of our favourite characters are on board. are these
episodes written differently or anything? are they more based on the "kids" or the adults?

just curious.

i like the new book, but i kinda like the old one a bit better. the new book "looks" huge, but the type is really big and it doesn't contain as much info as i would have liked. but it is truly a great book to have.

i look at it this way: the show has been on for so long that they have covered so many subjects that they have to be careful not to repeat themselves again and again.

i do agree that the episodes do not seem to have the same inspiration as the older ones. of course, this could be because some of us are just set in our ways and find it hard to embrace newer characters.

personally, i think that it would be best to have an episode in which tom riley goes to meet his Lord.

people do die in real life. it would be a fitting tribute to walker and would remind kids of all ages that no one needs to fear death.

i don't think that there is way to write a history of Odyssey which truly does justice to the program. we have the old "adventures in odyssey" book which gave a detailed description of each episode for the first twenty five or so volumes.

I do hope that "Tom Riley" dies in the show. What an excellent way to show kids that in Jesus, there really is no death. It could actually be a very uplifting and exciting show as characters in Odyssey talk about Tom's walk with Jesus.

i finally sat down with my wife the other night and watched American Idol for the first time this season. after hearing some of the performers, i think Connie Kendall actually has a shot on the show if she would try out.

the theme from "six feet under". (this is a VERY icky program and i would not recommend people view it.)

it's hard to say just "what" makes an episode classic. sometimes it is the storyline, other times it is just an episode in which a favourite character does something totally unexpected.

there is a special chemistry in the oldies with hal smith as whit, especially the connie, eugene and whit trio.
